Nerdy girl vs robots

"- … Yes, Mom, I already have them completely assembled. The parts are recycled and a bit worn, but that’s just aesthetic; they’re functional. I just need to install the operating system, and then I’ll be able to put them to work. You’ll see—between the three of them, they’ll pay off the rest of my college tuition, and more.
- But Kelly, the operating system license for just one robot is insanely expensive. Why do you think they’re practically only used by big corporations and rich people?
- That’s not a problem. There are free operating systems available on the deep web; I’m downloading one right now.
- And you trust what you can find there? You know that place is full of viruses and junk.
- It’s just a matter of using some common sense, Mom… That and checking for any incompatibilities that might come up after installing it.
- Well, sweetie, you’re the expert on these things. You’ll have to tell me how your project turns out. Your dad’s calling me right now, and I have his call on hold, so I’ll have to let you go. But just so you know, I’m very proud of my brilliant daughter. Love you, kisses!
- I love you too, Mom. I’ll call you to let you know how it went. Bye."
Today:
"- To stop the tickles, provide your bank account number and access password… To stop the tickles, provide your bank account number and access password… To stop the tickles, provide your bank account number and access password… To stop the tickles, provide your bank account number and access password… To stop the tickles, provide your bank account number and access password…"

Hmmmm... It wasn't exactly my idea, but I don't dislike it either. 😉 I left it a bit open to interpretation, but my idea was that the girl thought she was being really clever, installed what she shouldn't have, and is now dealing with a particularly aggressive ransomware. 😈
