🕑 Added 2024-09-29 00:54:38 +0000 UTC"queen" as a title for a breeding gnome female is more an outside invention, as there is no royal hierarchy within gnome colonies. the queen is not even in charge of the day-to-day running of the colony, which is left instead to favored sisters and daughters. a queen's only duty is to get fat and give birth and feed the young until they're weaned, at which point they're passed off to the workers to be raised and taught to scavenge.
males of breeding age are pretty much Only good for knocking up the queen, and it's just about all they can think about once they come in contact with her pheromones. they don't dress, scavenge, or do anything but fuck, fight, and eat what they're given. it's relatively uncommon for a male to survive past their prime breeding years, most either dying outside the colony in their search for a mate, or to other males looking to replace/usurp them in the harem. they are Very aggressive and cumbrained when in rut, and will forget any ties they have that aren't to their prospective queen. unsteady alliances will form between accepted husbands within a colony, when there's two or three, but any more than that will trigger a power struggle that often ends bloody.
