🕑 Added 2024-12-14 21:16:28 +0000 UTCi ran a poll on tumblr to design a cadogan critter, giving them ten options to source blood, jism, and an extra component from. and the results were unicorn blood, dragon jism, and harpy feather.
and what that combination would make is something that is, frankly, Too Cute for cadogan to ever design for himself. honestly i'm not sure it's even possible to get unicorn blood because they're unkillable and If It Bleeds You Can Kill It, but it would make the critter fluffy and pretty and soft, and the harpy feathers would give them wings. dragon's jism would give them a hoarding habit and strong independence bordering on misanthropy. frankly unicorns would be better as a source for jism and hair if you Must use parts from them. unicorn hair would give any critter a lovely coat.
so the only situation in which cadogan would make something like this is if he intends to sell it as a pet, probably to some noble/aristocrat's child. it's the sort of thing you'd keep in a bird cage. not any good as a servant.
if nothing else i've learned it's way easier to design the critter first and Then decide what went into it, rather than design it from the components. it made this pretty tough.

I know those top two expressions well... My roommate has two cats, and one of them absolutely hated me for the first five years of living together despite lots of love and treats. It took roommate having a girlfriend over all the time for that cat to decide, actually this one is fine, THAT one is my least favorite. And now he sits on me constantly and has ruined almost all my pants with his claws. I love him so much.

I know Cadogan's now been divorced from Osmund and Vester but I could see one of these little critters as Vester's first attempt at a creachure.(As for unicorn blood, perhaps whatever the closest thing their body would have that makes their faces flushed when fighting? Ichor?)

God the idea of these cute fluffy guys having misanthropy from the dragon component is so funny and so so sad at the same time. Imagining this pet intended for a noble kid at best tolerating them and at worst straight up detesting them. The ethics of creature creating and what parts would go well together is also such an interesting topic!
