The Artistic Arrogance Of A Horrible Hollywood Hedgehog (The Jimquisition)
🕑 Added 2019-05-06 15:19:15 +0000 UTCThe Sonic The Hedgehog movie looks dire, and the CGI monstrosity masquerading as Sonic himself makes me sick. Genuinely.
As Paramount now scrabbles at the last minute to redesign him following intense backlash, let's pick Sonic the Manhog to shreds and chat about Hollywood's artistic arrogance.
Historically, moviemakers love to exploit nerdy licenses while simultaneously being ashamed of them. But history is in the past, and we're in a new era of accepted pop culture geekery.
The world has evolved, but Hollywood's take on Sonic the Hedgehog is rooted in the past.

I just want to clarify, after re-reading my comment, that I'm not saying Jim shouldn't deal with more serious topics in the Jimquisition.

If only the video explained its point multiple times!

Personally I was pleasantly surprised by seeing a Jimquisition that was dealing with a less heavy topic. I love the Jimquisition obviously, and that wasn't meant as a critique by any means. But for all the critical insight and humour it has recently dealt with some very wearying and depressing subjects. It was nice to have a small respite from the oppressive foreboding dread regarding the entire gaming industry's future, to point and laugh at an imaginary hedgehog.

The movie seems awful regardless of how Sonic looks. And those people defending it by saying "it's for kids" should have higher standards for family movies. If Disney and Dreamworks can make films aimed toward children that are legitimately good then so can other companies.

Justin should not be allowed to speak.

I have a conspiracy theory. I am convinced the choice of the song Gangsta's Paradise was a deliberate, calculated attempt to make the trailer "unmeme-able." Paramount chose the song they deemed most likely to be Auto claimed in an effort to contain the spread of negative reaction videos.

I can’t believe that people are claiming sonic the hedgehog looked good oh their journalists with zero job security and have to rely on rage bait to survive
