Gag Garble
🕑 Added 2024-03-07 20:35:17 +0000 UTCFor the April release, I’d like to rework the gag garbling/mumbling system a little. There are 2 things I’d like to do, please let me know if you think it’s a good idea or not:
1. Add a new toggle for “Roleplay” difficulty players. if checked, we would never garble the gagged text emitted. So if a roleplay difficulty player wants to roleplay her own gag or simply avoid it, she could have that option.
2. Only send garbled text when sending it to other players, so it would make it impossible to cheat from the receiving side and show the ungarbled version. It would still be possible to hack the emitting side but it’s a little more complicated and would show everyone that you’re cheating.
What do you think? Would it make it more immersive or logical? Is there a better plan that you can think of? Thanks!

I'm talking about 1 slot. Like if you have cloth or socks in 1 slot you can have 3 different icons. Normal, overstuffed, packed, making the cheeks bulge. Same with cloth and tape adding layers to the slots

I don't know if being able to cheat out of gags should be a base game feature. Maybe more of an extension thing. I'll think about it.

Which is why I suggested a mouseover translate option, so someone can choose if they want to translate it or not. Also having this be an option you can turn off in settings would help folks that don't want to be able to see gag translations.

Consider this: In real life, if I stuff a cloth gag in your mouth AND tie a proper cleave gag over that, you'd still be 90% understandable. In BC, someone gagged like that is 20% understandable, if you're lucky. This is not immersive to me at all - I can always choose to roleplay not understanding someone if I want to with the way things are, but still pay attention to any signs they might be giving that they're near their limit. Conversely, anyone who wants to roleplay an effective gag can type "mmm mm mmmm" while gagged, even with lighter gags. I believe your time can be better used doing other things than this.

Thanks! I'm not sure. There's already 3 gag slots to stack them, adding a 4th or 5th one might be overkill.

It would not be fun, it would be absolutely needed. What you are proposing has the potential to ruin the appeal of multiplayer for a lot of people who do not CARE for gag speak at all. Also, rework the gag system entirely to make simple gags less effective first - real world gags are a LOT easier to understand than BC gags.

In that case just make it a toggle for the sub to use. Seems weird to take away things imo.

Maybe I'll create a "Gag speaking" skill someday, but it's another project. It could be fun though :)

I think if you go with #2 that showing the garbled speech but having a translated notation afterwards would be a suitable compromise. (mouse-over the garbled speech changing it to translated maybe? not sure if that's possible)

Only if a gag speech style skill is added. A lot of people do rp semi supernatural characters that wouldn't be limited by gag speech. Also just skilled doms understanding their subs speech would be a good representation too. Locking it behind rp difficulty is kinda meh. Just make it a skill you can learn
