Okay, my current theory. By the law of conservation of matter, there needs to be excess matter somewhere, as the mass of Kass’s human form does not equal the mass of their Yinglet form. This means that part of Kass must be in that sludge somewhere right? It sounds gross, but given that matter cannot be created nor destroyed, only altered. So that must mean that Kass’s remaining molecules needed to go somewhere. Not really a theory, but just a thought that this excavated bit must have pieces of Kass in there somewhere. Unless the glowy thingy is able to ignore the law of conservation of matter.

Oh this is some TOP-quality body horror. As bad as your situation is, Kass, it could have been so much worse! Given that the story so far has been "seemingly magical event occurs in seemingly non-magical world," this is EXACTLY the kind of additional horrifying information I've been hoping we'd get.
