oh she sees right through kass. All that compartmentalizing and minimizing... running from how it even could've effected them.
ComicTF
I'm ready to be emotionally destroyed, along with Kass.
Flora P-Stylianides
U mean he finds a zhatzhing that tfs him *into* a therapist XDXDXD
Aulderbane
It's rare on a Yinglet, that's for sure. X3
Val Salia
Naw naw that means you just gotta bottle it up even HARDER
Val Salia
Running His Damn Mouth has always been Kass' superpower
Val Salia
Kass is an *excellent* wallbuilder
Val Salia
"Dang so you got some crap goin' on eh"
Val Salia
It's heavier on yinglets, because they cannot lift as much
Val Salia
Relatable... BUT TO WHAT
Val Salia
Yeahhh, Ran would be much more of an academic psychologist than an empathetic therapist
Val Salia
"You do know that eggs come out the hoo-ha, yes?"
Val Salia
Kass needs therapy Standardized therapy doesn't exist Kass creates therapy
Val Salia
But Alone is the most reliable friend you can ever have! : D
Aulderbane
Exactly! XD

Not to mention Kass had knocked him down and was choking him to death when Brakka's gang pulled Kass off of him.

Predicting breakdown in 3... 2... 1 page... But yeah, that's the kind of trauma that can last forever, even if... especially if... it goes unacknowledged and unconfronted. And Vizlet, mother to her people, knows this. To those who don't really understand, may you NEVER have to really understand.
Aulderbane
Helpless. Kass, you verbally battered Brakka to the point of distraction, and gave him a good poke just under his eye. Need to work on that self-confidence!
Merle Blue
That's some complex expressions in this one. Poor Kass has those walls built so high...
Falloutgamer347
Oh no, poor Kass. Vizlets expressions show really well how bad she feels for Kass after everything that has happened
RamblerJ
Zhe denial be heavy.

the matriarch is a big ol' softie heheh. also oh no kass is relatable.
actually the one person who has a slight bent in the direction of being a therapist is the last person Kass needs in that role, Ran, no one else in the setting so far has the mix of something close to scientific method and an urge to apply it to anything, including the mind that would form the basis of good therapy. Perhaps one of his students in time might also have the empathy needed as well. In the meantime, there are friends and people willing to be friends

I think Vizlet is realizing suddenly that Kass doesn't understand certain duties that all female yinglets in an enclave share. And that she may not be able to protect Kass from that forever. Not with her enclave being under scrutiny for any deviations from the yinglet way of life.
Flora P-Stylianides
*Oh* Poor Kass Poor, poor boy Christ, if therapists exist in this world he might need a lifetimes supply Thank goodness he has such good friends to help him through this <3
Super Shanko
Kass seems to be doing that thing again where he's feeling like he must bare the brunt of everything alone, even while Viz is making it clear he's got a friend in her, while she must also feel bad for being loosely apart of such assault.

I think Vizlet just realized how shitty Kass' life has been for the last few years. The Ten Seasons War works out to two and a half years. If Kass was there for the duration and deserted with Elim just before the fall of Dinlan, he's got a LOT of suppressed trauma built up. "Seeing a man's Skull split open is not something i'm forgetting anytime soon." And as a male, especially a soldier, in a medieval society, he'd be expected to "man up" and keep moving forward. He'd compartmentalize and just stick things in a mental box marked "do not open" and move on. That expression Vis gives Kass in panel 5 is the realization that Kass really was Male and actually experienced a life similar to the male Yinglets. For a male in both societies, your value is what you can do for the community. Part of the look of horror on Vizlets face is acknowledging Kass' traumatic past, and also the realization that Kass IS a man trapped in a female Yinglet body and not a female Yinglet "acting like a Tomboy."
