"Animate Stick" is kind of an existing spell in a non-DnD game I've played. You cast it on a wooden object (typically a witch's broomstick, since it's a witch-specific spell), throw it in the vague direction of the enemy and run the other way. The stick then animates and starts beating up anything near it on its own. Hilarious and effective.
