The mucus is an effective restraint, it sticks to anything it touches and is pretty difficult to remove. Kim is aware, and doesn't dare touch anything with her slimed hand. Better take care of the hornet first, cleanup comes later.
This wasn't a great hit, but the bugger probably has a few more in him (yes, this one is male, a scout). He will try again, if Kim doesn't get him first.

I'd like to see if the whole situation causes Kim to have a PTSD from the rescue party, the sticky substance, the insects, the imprisonment, and eventually the birth of the insects.
