Biolab part 2: concepts
🕑 Added 2024-11-24 18:02:44 +0000 UTCHere are a couple of concepts I have been working on for the next part of biolab.
First, there is major Desi, head of security. We've seen her before in Biolab p01 in the security office. She was a tank commander before she landed this cushy desk job. Now her time is spent yelling at her troops, those incompetent undisciplined idiots. In the WIP, the hazmat team is ensuring her that they will handle it, no problem. Surely.
Then there are the security bots (3). These are little autonomous robots that patrol around the base, they are everywhere, but try to stay out of the way of any people. They are small enough that they can fit through vents and have a network of tunnels throughout the base specially made for them.
These little guys with their non-lethal weapons are pretty effective at stopping any critters from escaping or entering the base. In case of a containment breach, these bots are often the first at the scene. They are great pest control. They are not shielded though, and can be tampered with/'hacked'. But I'm sure it's fine.
The DWM has experimented with different human-robot security ratios and found that ~1 human to 10 bots is ideal. The bots do the work, the humans put a human face on security, literally. It's good for morale, and people still don't really trust robots with guns.

These works are uploaded to the archive in Biolab part 2/Concepts. The first was ~99% done for a while now. I decided to post these, because I didn't have time to finish Lily's drawing.
Drawings can be found in the archive here, or you can go to this month's archive post if that doesn't work.

Love your mechanical design. There's so much more thought put into these and they're great.

Space colonies require so much press tooling and injection molding in their interiors and tech. Maybe one day we'll see the ladies of the engineering corps and their workshop.

Major desi looks selfish and intelligent... I feel a different strength from lily, it's like she's caught up in a creature and resists, it may be different from the women so far

Excellent work as usual. As much as I love your adventurers and their bad ends, I sorely missed some hard-as-nails office lady with great legs and sexy tights/stockings :-D Now I can hope again :-D

Ohhh major desi a baddie! So excited for biolab to continue!

I’m rooting for Desi! 💜

That’s a really good looking woman. I mean they all look good, but somehow I really like this drawing. Biolab is one of my favorite stories. The alien slime-goo-fungus creature has great potential. It sure looks like something that can evolve…

Looks really promising! Loved the 1st Biolab, so I'm looking forward to this quite a bit.

Will we get a lillies update in the near future?

even one of these bots is more than a match for a couple of humans in close quarters

I'm sure Desi can hold her own against the slime monster or multiple bots
D Banks
love those mocha legs

These look good! The infected bots turning on people could make for some fun scenes. Vague possibly fun idea I wouldn't expect to see in this though: Girl inside of larger exosuit or mech or something finds the slimy goop stuff seeping into her cramped cockpit and doesn't have enough space to fight back against it, and can't open the hatch to escape because of the goo mucking it up.

I'm looking forward to seeing the continuation of this one. And the new character looks very cool and different. The mechs especially the 'infected' one are sure to be helpful.

Uh oh... Why do I get the feeling that some humans are going to accidentally get restrained with these sticky foam guns; especially given that the humans are outnumbered significantly by the robots.

Looks great! So happy you’re revisiting the lab. 👏
