She carries a backpack with semi-autonomous kamikaze drones. Grenade drones are launched from the back. Flight is achieved by 2 contrarotating propellers attached at the top of the grenade., they fold out when the drone is a few meters away from the launcher.
Drones can be controlled manually using the forearm computer, or set to seek out any critters in a certain radius, and take em out on its own. If a critter is caught out in the open, the grenade can be detached from the flight module and dropped. That saves a tiny bit of money, since the drone module is reusable.

It makes perfect sense for some kind of mix of grenade and camera drones. Maybe she carries different types of grenades too, like some might be shrapnel, some high explosive, some smoke grenades.

Well the launcher has multiple pods, you could probably still have a couple for recon and the rest explode. I might be putting too much thought into this

I can imagine the grenade could be replaced by a sensor module, so you have some more eyes in the sky. Actually that was the original idea for her drones, but i didnt think flying cameras were badass enough

The grenade's purpose is to blow up. The drone module is the delivery mechanism, that bit does not need to explode
