Outfits
🕑 Added 2022-12-21 20:36:23 +0000 UTCSo I received a couple of comments about Evie's outfit not being approprate for the situation, or not being realistic. I mean, the scenarios I draw out are not exactly realistic anyway, but I try to have things make sense within the context of the stories.
Now I'm interested in your opinion: should I do outfits more like what I showed for Evie before, with the heels and ventilation, or would something like this be preferable (just a minor edit, to give an idea):

I'll leave the poll up for a while, at least until I need to make Evie's design final, for the next pages of the story.

Def a bigger fan of full tactical, combat boots, etc. Pretty much everything you design is great though!
Anders
Although I voted for the top one, I think we come here for your imagination, to be honest. I'm sure that whatever design you start with it'll get plenty of appreciation.
From Beyond
i'm perfectly fine with your first design, but you could draw the full suit, then draw the suit melting from outside, partially exposing evie's nude body and inner belts for several cuts
Summoner
I *hope* the costume does not survive intact at least :D
Matt (not that one)
One point in favor of the current outfit: It's also the future. We're working with Space-Age Polymers here; maybe there's some special no-slip elastic involved.
zeroGravitas
so do i, i can't choose. it's a detail that''s easy to implement, so I will probably just end op drawing both...
Sleepy
I like both equally.. soo can't vote lol. I really liked Iris for example that clearly had a form over function top, but kept it rolled down on her waist. Either because it was too hot, or just a fuck it attitude? That was a really good outfit detail! So I could see both being equally practical in the end. If you are a special operative you probably have a say in what you wear and gear out with so to each their own~
Test
As long as they survive I'm fine with it
Phil
The clothing they wear isn't what pulls me 'out of the experience'.. its how the creatures are intelligent enough to disrobe them. So if its made indirectly easier it is therefore more believable. Sure it isn't realistic, but its practical for the sake of the 'end result.'
zeroGravitas
i would not have posted the alternative outfit if i think it was an interesting option to have. i didn't draw it because someone told me to. either way, a few people expressed an opinion and I was curious whether this was an opinion held by a lot of you or not. but you are right, i draw what i want to draw, otherwise i'm not interested (i could never work in the industry...). i think the last sentence in the post might give the impression the outcome of the poll determines what i will draw, that is of course not the case (i'm not good with words).
zeroGravitas
of course. if someone wants me to draw something exactly their way, they can commission me. otherwise, it will be what i want it to look like. still, some of your comments have really good ideas in them. for ex someone mentioned something like wedge heels (i think that's what they are called), which would be a great compromise between heels yes/no
zeroGravitas
true, this bit is just for the intro. but still, i don't want the intro to be 'dumb'.
zeroGravitas
don't worry, i'll do that either way. they won't be wearing full body armor or baggy clothes any time soon
zeroGravitas
yeah, actually at first it was going to be another desert, but then I realised I have basically mostly been doing deserts so far, so I changed it to snow (nice color contrast too). but I kept her design. I dunno, maybe I'm i'll be going back to the warmer environment. I'm still exploring
KD
Not that fussed either way. Might be nice to have the kit more geared towards an arctic look if she's up in the mountains. Maybe throw in some fur lined stuff. Evie's initial design strikes me as a modification for warmer climates.
Orgasmatron Prime
This is fantasy, specifically, erotic, sexual fantasy. I say we put the sexual appeal first.
Fuoren
Given the nature of your works I had a good laugh about the previous outfit, but I wasn't about to go 'no that's dum!' It's not like any of these pretty broads are gonna have their clothes or belongings long on account of the anti-non-organic compounds these monsters put out anyways! So long as they end up nicely compromised and filled for it.
Mable
Generally my ethos is always function over form for female protagonists (ie not having medieval fantasy tittyplate armor), but I don't really think that applies here since this isn't a prestige HBO drama, it's monster fucker hentai lol. I love your art style, I love your designs, you should keep them the way you invisioned them! The asymmetric design was cool and unique, it gave a very readable silhouette from a distance, and it introduces so many possibilities for Evie to get violated! I vote to keep the original, while also keeping the option to go for more "practical" designs in the future. It's hot to see someone in a skimpy outfit be turned into a set of holes to fuck, but imo it's even hotter to see someone who's competent and dressed for the job still get destroyed and used!
Luctem
I think some comments about the leg of the suit were not ment about realism or the asymmetry itself, but about the point that the unsupported high "stocking" would not stay in place, when she moves around. Maybe call it "credibility" instead of "realism". Maybe the asymmetric outfit could work out a bit better, if the "open leg" would be supported a littlebit by some strap(s) from above, or opposite, if the left leg was naked all the way to the knee (making it look like some sort of boot). It would be "credible" that the outfit would stay in place. One could even argue that the open leg is for easier movement while the other side's leg protects her skin from the potentially chafing holster. I agree with one of the previous writiers, maybe you could take the asymmetry even further and show a bit of side-boob. Personally, I find "one-legged-leggins" very, very sexy, so I voted for "ventilation". My personal favourite would be: Asymmetric with the naked thigh exposed all the way to the knee and some asymmetry on the top with a littlebit of exposed side-boob :) But I am certain that whatevery you come up with is going to look stunning as always! I'm curious how you'll decide and looking forward to the pictures!
KorboSama
Preference and form vs function is going to be different for everyone, so the final decision should always come down to what you as the artist like best. If I'd have to give an opinion I prefer the more realistic look of boots and closed suit over heels in a hostile environment.
Komneni
I prefer the unchanged look, in part because it's a nice iteration on the suit designs, and something different. Variety, spice of life, and it looks good. What's more, I agree with an earlier comment; While it's important to take comments into consideration, I signed up for your take, not someone else's.
Arkngthunch-Sturdumz
If this was a game or a movie I'd vote for the function. But since we're talking about porn, I'd like even higher heels, and that they could keep them all the times when they're fucked by monsters. So few porn artists draw heels when drawing monster porn!
Stoneleigh
If you could ever do a story with one of the women in a dress , would be amazing. Imagine, night out gone wrong and easy easy access. :D
James Gavin
Much prefer the original, but if you have to change anything I'd vote for the heels. Her cheeks definitely require a bit of breathing room.
G Mikkelsen
Not a fan of heels in general, otherwise I don't mind either way
Rocheste Dorm
keep the ass hanging out, but remove the heels. Whenever i see an actiongirl in heels it just makes my feet hurt, even if the "actiongirl" part is just a means to them getting abused in the end
~Robin
I think its important to remember that although in a lot of situations there are better things to wear in terms of function, sometimes people want to look attractive too. Like how many times have you thought "I'm gonna be cold in this outfit, but I'll look better"? I know its not exactly the same, but I think it's worth pondering.
RetroFerret
Since i love your character designs, and they are the reason i follow (oviposition and slimed peril girls helped that financial decision) i say draw what you like, because thats clearly why we are here. I never say no to shiny and slimey tho...
Rion
Heels and sexy. But really draw what you want, it's why I signed up, for your take on it and not someone else's view point.
Vasari
I prefer full bodysuit with heels
STND_ISSUE_BIOTISSUE
Call it a 'vibe', I guess, but having paid attention to the way you write about your work, I definitely think you are one of those illustrators in this context, that need to be doing exactly what the fuck they want, otherwise they won't sustain the effort. Dare I say this body of work might even be the 'payoff' for not doing exactly what the fuck you want 'professionally'. Call me out if I'm wrong. Why even mention this? The dangers of putting up polls that might represent to yourself a commitment that locks you into not doing exactly what the fuck you want. Again, I could be drawing a long bow, happy to be wrong.
Andrew Frisina
No heels but definitely keep everything else please.
James Zhang
From the Vote looks like the function side will lose, lol. but for me the function, Sense of formality, and the contrast of being defeated are the most fascinating thing about your works~ so l hope if you decide to choose sexy please do not make it no reason. i mean you can explain it in background~
James Zhang
agree
Cuess Air
I'm fine with any manner of outfit whether revealing or practical. I'm just not a heels kind of person.
Jumji322
I prefer the more functional outfits, less exposure to begin with raises the apeal of seeing it come off after all.
Rauko the varment
Honestly, I think of the uniform as a gift wrap that the monsters must remove to get to the prize. It's better to have it like a strip tease than show off the good too quickly
Venabili
I prefer the realism of a functional outfit. A lot of scenarios have them lose their clothes anyways, which I view as part of the fun.
D0gbert
Function over form is hot. Also hilarious when they lose their kit afterwards...
Dylan Van Pelt
I prefer characters appear more covered and competent/prepared at the beginning, because that is more to get torn off later, and smarter chars getting captured is more fun for me. I voted function. Though not because of "mah realism", but from enjoying the progression more that way. If I had it my way, the thigh gap would get ripped out in an early tussle.
Michael Snow
This seems like short term problem as long as its soluble with Alien Salivs it's all good
KmNk218
sexy outfits, because at the end of the day they're going to end up naked anyway.
Boxing 42
I must say your girls have perfect figures just like Cammy in street fighter. So yes the sexy outfits are more than welcome
Joseph Czarniak
not gonna vote, since you don't have a "doesn't matter" option. your first outfit was real similar to the one that rachel foley was wearing in that one resident evil game, and i didn't hear anyone complaining then. your second one does have more of a degree realism, but like you said, your situations and their results are not exactly realistic. go with what you want man. this is your art, so make what you want to make first, worry about the peons chucking money at you second. worst case scenario go with the more realistic one but just have it get torn up sooner and have her run around in the damaged suit a bit longer than usual. kinda the best of both worlds lol.
Valaska
Actually a super good point!
Valaska
I still prefer the full pants but you already knew that haha
xoe_a
A practical outfit makes the reveal of what is underneath more impactful, for lack of a better term. Bodysuits are absolutely practical as a base layer, however, and since it is your setting, armored bodysuits and the like can totally exist. If you want things to feel 'real' I would argue it is important to consider who is designing the armor, and for what purpose. Poorly designed armor and armor that is self-defeating exists -- survivorship bias can cause this, as well as a designer who is isolated from or doesn't understand the threats. Also consider if the person wearing it would have modified or altered it. Evie may prefer her armor light and showy, and therefor its failure is on her. In other words, it could be interesting to see their gear's design have consequences, something that has already been used to some degree in the past. Like an airtight helmet filling up with fluid, for instance
Ricky Hatt
Sexy over function any day! We see this in most sci-fi any way, just another of many reasons why your art is fantastic πππ
Dig Douggler
It's all a fantasy, so I say let the skin show. If you need to work it into a "believable narrative", then imagine that Evie is a future "influencer" whose hunting is as much fashion show/advertising as it is sport...until it all goes horribly (delightfully?) wrong.
Kyle B
You do you.
Mergo Aran
I actually love the addition of heels to these "scifi" outfits. It's one of my favorite parts of your art.
Nachash9
always for realism! beside that, actually really like this new design, feels more tactical
Raynor1337
IMO practical can be sexy. I voted for the sexy but it doesn't hurt to mix it up. I'll support whatever you choose ZeroG
Agent Tygress
I'd love to see it with no vents at all, but the heels were fine. They'd be comfy!
Matt (not that one)
Any chance of a folder (or subfolder, under Characters or Concepts) that showcases some of the alternate designs? I think this falls under the WIP category, and I'm always up for that stuff.
Jedah
Dammit, I like both versions, gonna sit this one out! :D
Dan G.
I like this one quite a bit more, but the polls seem to indicate that Iβm in the minority. Though despite what the poll suggests, I still think this is a very sexy outfit.
Gloodood
Who cares? They eventually end up naked anyways! All kidding aside, I think a balance is best. Having a sexy skin-tight suit is great, and it should look flexible and not cumbersome. After all, if you're a monster hunter, the goal is to have as much mobility as possible while also having protection. I like to see the prey run for their life before they're helplessly mired in whatever gluey mucous the monster sprays at them. As such, I prefer flat boots to heels and skin-tight catsuits to shoulder pads. The image above looks alright, although I'd do without the awkward neckbrace.
zeroGravitas
Yeah me too, now I can't choose.
zeroGravitas
Thanks! Well, I am conflicted about which to pick, I like both styles. I would never draw something I don't want to draw of course
zeroGravitas
Ah no it's not that I mind, I am genuinely curious. I have done some outfits that are more realistic and some that are more like 'Jasmine' (slugworm trouble). But I've never gotten an idea of which type of outfit people prefer. you know, for the few images it is on screen
EnkiDue
Remember, the reason we follow you is for your distinct style. If you were to start tailoring to our desires / requests, i think some of the attraction would diminish. Don't stop drawing what you think is cool, cause that's why we love you. <3
Isaiah Hubbard
Fuck em! It's your story, your characters. Never gonna please anyone 100%.
Hugh B.
I prefer the old one, I love the asymmetrical outfit. Maybe keep that theme going and have the opposite shoulder be open and some side boob or cleavage on that side?
Chris
I really like both and see the reasons for each.
RadRanger
As much I love the half cheek. I like this one more but i'll still keep the heels. π No pressure but just do you. Your characters and outfits are amazing regardless. π
Talaniss
Honestly whatever you enjoy making. You will never please 100% of your audience. What's important is that you follow your muse and draw what you want to see. Your followers will naturally sort themselves out and those that want to support your genuine content will stick around and be content with you.
GC4588
I voted for the sexy one, but in this case I actually do enjoy the MINOR edit.
Tierial
Both work fine honestly. Itβs really up to the artist. Itβs your vision. Sure we consume the medium but it should always be what you envision it as.
JackTheMack
yes please more realism in my fetish fueled realistic cocooning spidery women artwork holy shit what morons
tsk92
I was content with the former, it will undoubtedly disintegrate in the near future anyway π
ghand
I enjoy the stylistic choices. It's good to have something different for a change.
