Unlikely
Generally speaking, it should work with an older save, but starting a new one is the safest bet. We always try to work in the new content so that it fits in perfectly with the old, but sometimes it's just not workable, and we need to put in stuff into the older content to allow for the new one to work with it. In those cases it might not work properly/might not start from an older save.

Do updates automatically apply to a saved games played online and loaded or do we need to start a new one?
