Chapter 22 – Red Ribbon Army vs Son Goku
Along the incredible height of Korin Tower, well above the lowest of clouds, Bulma took a second to breathe and adjust to the thinner air that she was experiencing. She didn’t know if she was even at the halfway point yet, but she could make some estimations on her current altitude judging by the temperature and the oxygen levels.
“Hah… Goku said that he climbed for almost a full day to reach the top. Judging by how high up I am, I’ll probably make it in roughly the same amount of time if I make sure to acclimate during the climb.” Bulma said to herself as she looked upwards while she let her lungs slowly get used to the lower oxygen (something that was happening at a faster rate than a normal person’s thanks to her Saiyan physiology). “Okay, another minute and then we keep going.” She prepared herself to continue her climb to reach the top of Korin Tower and receive training from the master.
-Goku-
“I’ll be there soon!” Goku looked at the Dragon Radar and saw that he was approaching where the other two Dragon Balls were. He patted the bag with the four Dragon Balls that he and Bulma had collected already with his free hand. “Just need to get these two and then the last one, Launch.” Goku said to himself as he rode through the sky on Nimbus.
He barely paid attention to the small town that he was passing over. Every settlement that he’d flown over coming from the Land of Korin had gotten smaller and smaller as he got closer to the remote headquarters of the Red Ribbon Army.
-Red Ribbon Army Headquarters-
“Sir!” A bear man in full uniform approached Commander Red. “Those four Dragon Balls are moving towards us quickly!”
Commander Red smirked with his pipe hanging from the side of his mouth. “It’s Taopaipai!”
-Training Island-
“Hm?” Launch (currently blonde) perked up a little and looked northwest. “What was that feeling?” She lightly touched her chest as a small smile spread across her face for seemingly no reason.
The sounds of sparring outside broke her from her reverie as Roshi sparred with Kale and Caulifla as the three did every afternoon.
“Gotcha!” Caulifla yelled.
“Are you certain?” Roshi’s amused voice was heard followed by laughter.
“Damn it!” Caulifla cursed, obviously having missed Roshi entirely.
There was a thud that followed the banter.
“That was a close one!” Roshi sounded less jovial this time, a tinge of pain in his voice.
“You blocked that? But I was in your blind spot and everything!” Kale said, having apparently landed the blow.
Roshi’s laughter was heard for a moment. “Give me some credit! I can’t have my students surpassing me just yet!”
“Let’s get him, Kale!” Caulifla said loudly.
“Right, sis!” Kale called back.
Launch shook her head as the sounds of sparring picked up again. “Soon enough, I’m sure.” The blonde said to herself with her green eyes almost shining and a smirk on her lips. “I believe in you, Goku.”
-Red Ribbon Army Headquarters-
In the sky surrounding the large headquarters of the Red Ribbon Army, jetcopters patrolled the airspace near constantly. One of the jetcopter patrols, Unit 84, spotted something flying towards the headquarters at impressive speed.
“Headquarters! Headquarters, unidentified bogey approaching base!” The pilot radioed into the communications room. “Moving to engage!”
-Communications Room-
“Negative! Unit 84! That’s Taopaipai!” One of the communications officers spoke into the radio promptly to avoid an attack on the hired assassin.
“The four Dragon Balls have arrived.” Staff Officer Black said as he looked at the radar and the four glowing points approaching their location.
Commander Red grinned in delight. “At last, Taopaipai has returned with his trophies!”
-In the Sky-
Goku grinned as he saw the large military base and confirmed that it was where the Dragon Balls were. “Okay!” He put the Dragon Radar in the same bag as the Dragon Balls and then pulled Nyoibō from the sheath on his back. “Let’s have some fun!”
Unit 84 finally got visual confirmation of the approaching person and his eyes widened. “Headquarters, headquarters! That’s not Taopaipai! It’s the enemy!” He roared into the radio.
Goku swung Nyoibō and tore straight through the jetcopter without slowing down. He blasted forward on Nimbus while the two halves of the jetcopter exploded behind him.
-Communications Room-
“Unit 84, respond!” One of the officers demanded. Not getting any response, the officer called out to the room at large. “He’s…He’s been taken out! What’s going on?!” He turned to the communication soldier next to him. “Activate all surveillance and focus on Unit 84’s last location, now!”
“Y-Yes, sir!” The other man quickly flipped a few switches and pressed multiple buttons as all the screens in the communications room switched over to camera feeds. In only a few seconds everyone saw Goku flying towards the base atop the Flying Nimbus.
The bear man in full uniform flinched back in shock. “Commander! It’s not Taopaipai! It’s that Son Goku person!”
“WHAT?!” Commander Red yelled out; his eyes wide as he saw all of the cameras following Goku as their enemy rapidly approached their base from the sky. “What is that punk doing here?!”
Staff Officer Black stared at the screens following Goku. “It can’t be… But it has to mean… He defeated the Taopaipai…”
Commander Red turned to the officers amongst the panic that was already beginning. “Don’t let him penetrate our defenses! Not one step!”
Goku dove down on Nimbus And landed on one of the buildings, holding his Nyoibō at the ready.
“He’s already in! He’s on Sector 12’s terrace!” The communications officer reported.
“GRRR… HOW?!” Commander Red’s anger was palpable.
Goku charged towards the soldiers that were leveling their weapons at him.
“There he his!” One soldier yelled out.
Goku was in the man’s guard before he could even pull the trigger, a kick smashing into the Red Ribbon soldier’s face.
Ratatatatatata
The other two soldiers opened fire with their automatic rifles.
Without a wasted movement, Goku hopped upwards and with only his right leg, slammed a roundhouse into one soldier’s head and then a hook kick smashed the helmet of the other soldier. Both men hit the ground unmoving as Goku continued on his way, charging towards the incoming soldiers.
It was a blur of orange and the sound of automatic rifle fire before the entire area was littered with the bodies of Red Ribbon soldiers.
“Let’s see…” Goku pulled out the Dragon Radar and shrank the range down to just the base’s area. “Over that way, huh?” He looked to his left as he put the Dragon Radar away again.
“He’s down there!” A Red Ribbon soldier yelled out from a higher terrace.
A large caliber machine gun was quickly aimed at Goku and opened fire form the higher vantage point.
Ratatatatatatatata
Goku jumped, leaving he terrace behind to be torn up by the bullets, and kicked off the nearest building to cross the distance to the higher building. The soldier panicked, screaming, as he turned the machine gun towards Goku.
A single kick bent the barrel at an almost ninety-degree angle. A follow up punch took out the soldier. That’s when Goku looked up as a strange, yet slightly familiar, hum caught his attention.
Three hovercars, each armed with twin machine guns, flew towards Goku’s location.
“Fire!”
The closest hovercar let loose with both guns.
Goku leapt to the side, kicked off the wall, and dived between the streams of bullets from all three hovercars to land on the first hovercar with a grin.
“What?!” The driver cried out in shock.
A swift punch silenced the soldier and Goku leapt from the first hovercar as it went careening into a building in a fiery explosion. The other two hovercars banked sharply and came at Goku with guns blazing. Goku, falling through the air, cupped his hands to his side as the two hovercars screamed towards him.
“Ka… Me… Ha… Me… HA!!!” Goku formed the bright blue-white sphere of ki between his cupped hands before throwing them forward and unleashing the devastating beam towards the hovercars.
BOOM
The car on the left took the Kamehameha and exploded. The second hovercar was blown harshly to the side as the pilot lost control and slammed into another building.
BOOM
Another fiery explosion rang out and flames spread throughout the damaged building, setting it ablaze. The lookout tower atop the building swayed and then, with the loud screeching of metal, fell down and smashed into the building across the street, collapsing the entire top floor.
Goku landed on the ground nimbly as more and more soldiers came rushing at him.
“Over here! He’s on the ground!” A tiger man yelled out to alert all the other soldiers of Goku’s location. He aimed his pistol at Goku, only to realize that the younger man was right in front of him when a kick slammed into his side and sent him flying into the brick wall several meters away.
Ratatatatatatatata
The soldiers in the area had taken up positions behind whatever cover they could find as they opened fire on Goku.
Goku swung Nyoibō. “Extend!” The red staff glowed slightly and lengthened in a blur as it passed through the air and smashed through everything in its path. Bricks, mortar, vehicles, all were knocked aside, some with soldiers behind them. Goku charged forward and noticed three soldiers with RPGs aimed towards him from further away. “Nyoibō!” He called out and the staff shrank back to its regular length instantly. With a blur, ten Goku’s appeared between the soldiers armed with rocket launchers and his previous location.
“What the hell?!”
“Fire!”
“M-Monster!”
The three men fired their RPGs at one of the After Images each.
BOOM
BOOM
BOOM
The area was rocked by the three explosions as smoke and dust filled the air.
“Hiyah!” Goku appeared right beside the soldier on the right. A punch sent the man flying, but Goku didn’t stop, he dropped low and swept the second soldier’s legs out from beneath him. Before the man could cry out in shock, Goku’s foot slammed down onto his face, silencing him, and he snapped off a powerful sidekick that slammed into the third soldier’s torso. As the last soldier flew into the nearby building (through a window) Goku rushed off in the direction that the Dragon Radar had shown him earlier.
In the Communications Room, all the soldiers that weren’t in operations had left to join the defense of the base, while the actual communications soldiers and officers kept yelling out updates n damage to the base, number of soldiers taken down, and the loss of equip. The only thing that Commander Red was paying attention to, however, was the ever changing location of Goku as the martial artist tore his way through the headquarters of his army.
“Commander Red, sir!” the bear man called out. “The enemy is heading straight for tower eight!”
“So, he DOES want the Dragon Balls! I knew it!” Commander Red snarled, his hands clenched into fists.
Staff Officer Black looked between the various screens -several of which had gone black from being destroyed- and sweat began to run down his face. “Commander! Please evacuate to the underground bunker, just in case!” He motioned towards the doors to the communications room.
Commander Red had a vein practically pulsing on his forehead from sheer rage. “You’ve got to be kidding! ME?! Hide from one fucking punk?!”
“A brat that was able to defeat Taopaipai…” Staff Officer Black tried to reason with the head of the Red Ribbon Army.
“THE RED RIBBON ARMY IS AN INVINCIBLE FORCE!!!” Commander Red bellowed loudly, slamming his fist onto the desk beside him.
Outside, in the streets of the base, Goku swung the extended Nyoibō and knocked aside over a dozen soldiers sending them flying into walls, windows, and crashing harshly to the ground. He let the Nyoibō return to its normal length and ran towards the large tower-like building a bit further away. “The radar says the Dragon Balls are in there!”
He didn’t know that a sniper had him in his crosshairs.
Bam
“Ouch!” Goku’s head rocked slightly to the side as a bullet smashed into the side of his skull. “Now I’m mad!” Goku yelled as he quickly locked his eyes on the sniper several floors up on the balcony of a building on the other side of the street and behind the building on that side.
“Wh-What… The hell is he?!” The sniper stuttered out as he ducked behind the brick wall of the balcony.
“Dodonpa!” Goku pointed his index finger at the balcony and the thin beam of orange ki lanced forward at intense speed, cleanly piercing straight through the brickwork, through the soldier, and then hit the wall inside the building.
BOOM
The entire room attached to the balcony exploded, sending bricks, masonry, and debris raining down onto the street below.
While the Dodonpa was a technique that pierced through its target, after passing through multiple things, it became unstable and exploded upon the next impact. Goku now knew that for future reference as he continued to run towards the tower as more soldiers took up positions between him and his destination.
“He’s heading for Tower Eight!” A crocodile man yelled out before aiming his pistol at Goku.
“Extend!” Goku yelled and Nyoibō shot forward to smash into the crocodile man and knocked him into three other soldiers, then carried all four straight through the large front doors of Tower Eight, knocking the wooden doors off their hinges.
In the communications room the bear man quickly turned to Commander Red. “Sir! He’s already inside Tower Eight! An-And… We’ve lost half of our men!”
“Damn it! And you all have the gall to call yourselves the world’s most powerful army?!” Commander Red cursed as he immediately took off out of the communications room. “Black, we’re heading for Tower Eight!”
“Yes, Commander Red!” Staff Officer Black agreed as he rushed after the leader.
Goku kicked one soldier into the wall, spun to the left and smacked a second soldier beneath the chin with his tail with the force of an uppercut taking the man off his feet and crumpling him to the floor. A punch crashed into the nose of the next soldier and Goku snatched the pistol from his hands as the soldier fell, not caring to use a firearm, Goku threw the pistol at a soldier trying to use an overturned table as cover.
“Gah!” The soldier’s face was smashed by the flying pistol and he collapsed to the ground as blood spurted from his nose and forehead.
On the top floor of Tower Eight, Commander Red was huffing for breath as he put his hands on the table that held the two Dragon Balls that the Red Ribbon Army had managed to collect. Behind him at the elevator, Staff Officer Black typed in a specific code that locked down the elevator, rendering it completely inoperable until the code was put in again.
“Hah… Hah… No one… Will take these Dragon Balls!” Commander Red growled out as he caught his breath.
Staff Officer Black, still sweating heavily from the crisis that the Red Ribbon Army was experiencing, looked at Commander Red seriously. “Things don’t look very good… That Son Goku is powerful beyond belief… And we already lost most of our operatives even before this… Thanks to him…”
Goku kicked another soldier across the face as he fought his way up Tower Eight, floor by floor. Another man fired a shotgun at Goku, but only hit an After Image. A second later and his shotgun was kicked out of his hands. A punch to the gut sent him crumbling to the floor. A solider leveled his rifle at Goku’s head, but the young man shoved it aside and slammed a knee into the man’s stomach. As the solider hacked out his breath, Goku’s tail wrapped around his neck and the Saiyan used it to swing himself upwards, while at the same time throwing the injured soldier straight into the floor face first. Kicking off the ceiling, Goku dropped an axe kick on the helmeted head of another soldier, shattering his helmet and cratering the floor with the man’s face.
Bang Bang Bang Bang
A rabbit man using an overturned rectangular table for cover shot four times at Goku, but his aim was off and none of the bullets hit their target. Next to him, a larger soldier with a darker complexion hefted an RPG over his shoulder and fired it immediately.
Goku saw the rocket coming and his tail lashed out at the projectile. With a deft swat, the rocket’s course was altered and it flew wide and blasted out the far wall in a large explosion, raining down debris onto the street below, scattering soldiers that were already starting to retreat in fear and panic. “You jerks!” Goku growled at the two soldiers as she shot forward with both his hands out.
“N-No way!” The rabbit man gaped at what he’d just seen.
“Oh shit!” The other man cried out as Goku reached the overturned table in an instant. Even as Goku’s hands touched the overturned table, he didn’t slow down at all, shoving the table backwards along with the two soldiers.
Bam
The sound of the table impacting the wall was loud as the two soldiers were crushed between the wall and the table. The rabbit man was folded over the edge of the table, while the larger man was unmoving behind it.
“M-Monster!” One soldier yelled out in terror.
“Run away!” The only other soldier tossed his gun aside and ran for the only door on the floor.
His fellow soldier immediately followed after his comrade, desertion was preferable to death, after all!
Goku let them go since they weren’t threats anymore. He looked around and didn’t see any stairs going higher. “Oh wait, this is one of those elevator things that Bulma told me about, right?” Goku said as he inspected the elevator. He pressed the button, but nothing happened. Pressing it again resulted in more nothing. With a grimace, Goku tilted his head. “Is it broken?” Not bothering to try the elevator again, Goku looked up at the ceiling and bent his legs. With a strong leap, Goku cocked back his fist and punched straight through the ceiling and the floor above.
“What the!?”
“Holy shit!”
“He busted through the floor!”
The soldiers were startled and freaked out that Goku had come straight through the floor. Their shock was something Goku instantly took advantage of as he pulled the Nyoibō from his back. “Nyoibō, extend!” The staff lengthened considerably and Goku swung it powerfully, the edge of the staff only inches from the walls of the circular tower, slamming into every soldier and piece of furniture in the open room, scattering everything and defeating every soldier in seconds.
On the top floor, Commander Red watched the video feed while grinding his teeth in frustration and rage. “Arrrrggghhh!!! How pathetic! They’re a disgrace to the color red!”
Looking out the window and seeing what soldiers remained fleeing in terror, clearly deserting the Red Ribbon Army, Staff Officer Black turned towards Commander Red. “The remaining troops seem to be retreating…”
“Damn it… He’s a punk! Just some young punk!” Commander Red said while his entire body shook in rage and growing fear.
“It seems we were a bit too late in realizing just how powerful…” Staff Officer Black said as calmly as he could. “I’m afraid our only choice is to abandon the Dragon Balls and retreat as well.”
Commander Red’s fist slammed onto the table again as he raged. “Give me a break! Now I really don’t want to give up the Dragon Balls!”
Staff Officer Black had a serious look on his face. “But if the choice is them…or your life…?”
“Curse it all… I was so close…” Commander Red ground out as he looked at the two Dragon Balls on the table. “Just a bit longer… I would’ve had my wish… I would’ve been tall!”
“Uh…” Staff Officer Black blinked at what he’d just heard. “Did you say… ‘tall’, sir?” He couldn’t have possibly heard that right. “You don’t mean… That we were gathering the Dragon Balls just to make you taller…?”
Commander Red turned to glare up at Staff Officer Black. “Yes! Do you have a problem with that?!”
Staff Officer Black visibly flinched. “What?! I thought we were after world domination?!”
“We’ll get to that! Our forces are already enough that even the government’s military dares not attack us!” Commander Red yelled at the other man. “I could’ve had my wish and THEN we could’ve started our conquest of the world!” He straightened up to his full (and unimpressive) height with a harsh glare. “But a conqueror has to be charismatic… Dominating… Impressive… I mean, what woman even looks twice at a midget?!
“It was for something as petty as that… That we all suffered…?!” Staff Officer Black said in absolute shock.
Commander Red snapped at the much taller man. “SEE?! You tall people have no idea how I feel!” He clenched both his fists in front of him in rage. “Ever since I was a kid… I’ve been taunted and ridiculed… ‘Hey, hey, it’s that shrimp, Red!’ I’ve even been told… ‘You have such a mature face for a kid.’…”
“I have slaved and risked my life for only one reason…” Staff Officer Black said, his tone growing cold. “…to advance the Red Ribbon Army’s mission of world conquest!”
“SHUT UP!!! I’m the commander-in-chief and I get to say what we do!” Commander Red bellowed angrily.
Now it was Staff Officer Black that had his fists clenched in rage. “Do you realize how many soldiers sacrificed their lives… So that YOU wouldn’t have to be short?!”
“How dare you speak to your Commander like that?!” Commander Red demanded harshly, nearly spitting in his anger. “Anyway, they wouldn’t have been killed if they’d been trained better! People should learn to keep their mouths shut and follow their commander’s orders!”
BANG
A bullet hole appeared in Commander Red’s forehead, a small trail of blood starting to leak from it as the short man fell to the floor dead.
Staff Officer Black had drawn his sidearm and shot his -now former- commander point blank with a cold look on his face. “You are not competent to be commander. The Red Ribbon Army will rebuild under a new command.” He holstered his pistol and turned his back on the corpse. “And Commander Black shall fulfill its destiny.”
Crash
Goku broke through the large window, having climbed up the side of the tower after following some of the fleeing soldiers out onto a covered bridge from the fifth floor. He and ‘Commander’ Black stared at each other for a moment as Goku hopped into the room and Black shrugged off his suit jacket and tossed it onto the nearby chair.
“So, you’ve finally come.” Black said as the two stared each other down.
“Are you the boss?” Goku asked pointedly.
“I am.” Black nodded once. “Since just a minute ago.”
Goku saw the two Dragon Balls on the table. “I’m gonna take those Dragon Balls over there.”
Black gave Goku a slight smile. “First, consider this, Son Goku.” He spoke in a friendly manner. “Why don’t you and I gather the Dragon Balls together?” He clenched his fist in front of himself. “And together we will rule the world.”
“Rule the world?” Goku raised an eyebrow at that.
Black smiled more, thinking he’d piqued Goku’s interest. “That’s right! All the power of the Earth will be yours and mine!”
“No way! I’ve got a wish to make so that I can help my friend!” Goku denied the offer immediately.
Black quickly shifted gears mentally. “All right, then… What about this? When we’ve gathered all the Dragon Balls, you can make your wish. Afterwards, you’ll join me in conquering the world without the Dragon Balls! Together we’ll be invincible!”
Goku looked at Black with annoyance. “I told you I don’t want to! I wouldn’t even be friends with people like the Red Ribbon Army!”
“I see…” Black’s smile vanished and he looked at Goku coldly. “…then there’s no choice left but to battle.” He quickly took a martial arts stance.
“You got it!” Goku said in full agreement.
“You are full of confidence… But it won’t go as easily as before…” Black declared as he lunged forward and threw a huge and powerful punch.
Goku pivoted to doge and take Black’s back.
“Hyah!” Black surprised Goku as he performed a back kick straight towards Goku’s chin, his leg perfectly straight and his balance maintained.
But it wasn’t enough against a martial artist of Goku’s caliber.
“Tei!” Goku sidestepped and pivoted before burying his fist into Black’s stomach while the man was trying to return to his stance from his failed kick.
Black coughed, hacking out spittle as all the wind was driven from his lungs, as he gingerly clutched his stomach with his arms and dropped to one knee. ‘He’s stronger than I thought…’
Goku glared at Black, still ready to continue. “You should give up. Go to those ‘policemen’ guys and stop doing bad things.”
Black reached into his pocket and pulled out a Capsule. He stood up in the same instant that he tossed the Capsule next to Goku.
Bomf
“Hey!” Goku backstepped away from the cloud of smoke, not sure what was in the Capsule.
Black leapt forward, landing on the humanoid mech suit that had appeared from within the Capsule with its cockpit door opened. In only a second the hatch had closed and Black had powered up the mechanized suit. The large metal fist lashed out at Goku, who barely managed to get his guard up and block.
“Gah!” Goku grunted as he flew through the air and smashed into a large metal cabinet along the far wall, crushing it completely. “Why you…”
“Heh heh heh…” Black chuckled as he turned the mech suit to face Goku. “Even you are not invincible against my Battle Jacket! Prepare to be the first casualty of the Red Ribbon Army…reborn!” The Battle Jacket’s arm raised and the large circular lump on the arm with a small barrel fired a beam of energy at Goku.
“Whoa!” Goku jumped to the side, letting the beam blast out the wall, leaving behind a large hole.
The Battle Jacket’s large hand reached out to grab Goku, snagging him out of the air and trying to crush him.
“Let go!” Goku growled as he flexed and managed to stop the crushing grip.
“Hah! Your true cowardice is revealed!” Black mocked as he used the Battle Jacket’s power to throw Goku straight through the brick wall. The large thruster on the bottom of the Battle Jacket flared to life and the mech suit blasted straight through the roof of Tower Eight. Black spotted Goku on the ground, having stopped against the edge of one of the base’s buildings. “Don’t worry, brat! It will all be over shortly!” He fired the arm-mounted beam cannon at Goku again.
BOOM
The entire wall and ground where Goku had been was nothing more than a smoking crater now. The damage to the building alone was significant enough that the structure may not be salvageable.
Black’s smile was wide as he saw the results of his attack. “Hahahahaha! The brat has been blown off the face of the Earth!” He threw the large arms of the Battle Jacket into the air as the rocket allowed the weapon to hover in the air. “I stand supreme! All hail the Red Ribbon Army!”
Goku, on top of a building closer to the Battle Jacket, grinned at the premature celebration. “He must not know how fast I am.” He pointed his index finger at the hovering Battle Jacket. “Dodonpa!” The beam of ki lanced out and struck the shoulder joint of the Battle Jacket, piercing straight through it and removing the entire left arm of the machine.
“WHAT?!” Black cried out as he quickly had to adjust the controls to compensate for the loss of one of the Battle Jacket’s arms if he wanted to remain in the air. “You… YOU… YOU WILL DIE!!!” Black roared out as the rocket on the bottom of the Battle Jacket roared and the mech suit shot high into the air at great speed.
“Why is he going so high up?” Goku wondered as he saw the Battle Jacket stop and then flip upside down. “What’s he doing now?”
Black hit two buttons in the cockpit. The first opened up the large hatch on the back of the Battle Jacket, while the second armed the massive missile that he was aiming at Goku. “I have no choice but to fire this missile and reduce you…and this base…to nothing!” The payload of this missile would leave the headquarters of the Red Ribbon Army as nothing more than a crater. “THIS IS THE END!!!” He pulled the triggers on the controls and the missile fired straight down at Goku.
Goku, recognizing the danger of the missile based on his past experiences with similar projectiles, leapt straight at the incoming threat. He timed his kick as best as he could and slammed his leg into the missile sending it flying off to the left. “OWWW!!!” He cried out at the force behind the missile that he’d managed to redirect with his kick. Goku hissed at the pain in his leg as he started to fall from the air.
“Im-Impossible…!” Black cried out, sweat nearly pouring down his face as he watched his missile rocket towards the nearest mountain.
BOOM
Even from the distance between the mountain and the base, the explosion was loud as the huge blast threw up a mushroom cloud and sent the top of the mountain flying into pieces all over the area around the base. A tower of smoke and dust rose high into the air as Goku landed on the roof of one of the surviving buildings of the Red Ribbon Army headquarters.
“Sheesh… That was a nice mountain too.” Goku gaped at the mountain now being MUCH shorter than before.
“Wh-What is this freak?! No one is that strong!” Black babbled out as he quickly moved the controls of the Battle Jacket, flying away as quickly as the mech suit could manage. “You’ll regret this! I’ll kill you…one of these days!” He threatened Goku as he flew away.
“Huh?! Is he runnin’ away?!” Goku glared at the retreating Battle Jacket. “I don’t let bad people run away to hurt others!” Goku bent his legs and launched himself off the top of the building, the concrete roof actually cracking from the force in a massive spiderweb of cracks. “Ka… Me… Ha… Me… HA!!!” Goku gathered his ki into his cupped hands and then threw them forward, unleashing the intense blue-white ki beam straight at the Battle Jacket.
“N-No way…! This can’t be!” Black tried to adjust his flight, but the loss of the Battle Jacket’s left arm made that almost impossible as the controls were nearly unresponsive, only shaking the mech suit as it flew.
The Kamehameha blasted straight through the Battle Jacket and streaked through the sky for at least another hundred meters before dissipating.
“NO!!!” Black cried out as the Battle Jacket exploded into a massive fireball, shrapnel and shards of metal raining down to the ground amid a massive cloud of black smoke.
“Phew~” Goku exhaled as he landed on the roof of one of the few surviving buildings among the base. His attack, coupled with his incredible strength and use of ki attacks, had wrecked most of the -now former- Red Ribbon Army headquarters.
A single vehicle, a hovercar, sped away from the destroyed base. Goku saw the vehicle was being driven by a woman with violet hair and was stuffed with bags from which some money escaped and fluttered through the air. The hovercar disappeared around the bend of the street and into the thick forest surrounding the base.
“I wonder who that was?” Goku wondered, not considering the person a threat as she’d clearly been fleeing without having tried to attack him. “I should go get the Dragon Balls!” He hopped off the roof and towards the damaged Tower Eight with a smile.
-Colonel Violet-
Colonel -or former Colonel as it was now- Violet drove the hovercar that she’d stolen down the road away from Red Ribbon Army headquarters. It was filled with every bit of cash and valuables that she’d managed to steal from the vault within the base. Almost all of the Red Ribbon’s liquid assets were now hers.
“That guy can’t be human.” Violet said to herself as she drove quickly. “But I guess I should thank him for keeping Staff Officer Black from blasting the entire base to nothing while I was still there.” She took a stack of banded bills and smiled at it. “This is more than enough for me to live nice and comfortably from now on!” She grinned while driving off without looking back. The Red Ribbon Army was behind her now and she couldn’t care less.
-Elsewhere ~ Hidden Lab-
“You…” An older man growled as he stared at the picture of Goku on the large computer screen. All of the screens in his lab were now showing various pictures and videos of Goku that his system had pulled from the Red Ribbon Army headquarters cameras. “Son Goku…” The man’s eyes were wide with rage as he snarled at the image. “I swear I’ll kill you for this!” He slammed his hands down on the large metal table holding the huge screen.
This man’s hatred and desire for revenge would only grow and become an all-encompassing obsession once he learned the fate of one specific soldier that had been at the headquarters.
His son.
-Former Headquarters of the Red Ribbon Army-
Goku smiled as he picked up the two Dragon Balls from the table on the top floor of Tower Eight. “Alright! Only one left to go!” He quickly put the two Dragon balls into the bag with the others and secured it. “Nimbus!” He yelled out as soon as he jumped through the massive hole in the ceiling.
The golden cloud dove down from the sky and Goku leapt onto it with a laugh.
“Let’s head back to Korin’s Tower, Nimbus!” Goku pointed to the northeast and the Nimbus blasted off in the indicated direction.
As Goku disappeared over the horizon, Tower Eight rumbled before collapsing to the ground with a loud crash, sending up a plume of dust and debris. The base was decimated and anyone that stumbled upon it would find a few undamaged buildings, a lot more damaged ones, and the remains of the fallen soldiers and whatever equipment had been left behind. It would be natural for anyone to suspect that their had been a massive battle here between two different armed forces.
Goku knew nothing of this as he pulled out the Dragon Radar and clicked the button on top. “Now, where’s the last Dragon Ball?” He clicked the button again, then twisted it to expand the search area further. “Huh? Where is it?” He expanded the range further and further until it was maxed out. “It was there before… Where could it have gone?” All six Dragon Balls that he had were showing up on the radar, but the last Dragon Ball was nowhere to be seen now. “Maybe Bulma will know?”
Goku flew back toward Korin Tower, prepared to climb the tower again to ask Bulma what was going on with the Dragon Radar, if necessary.
He had a promise to keep to someone important to him, after all.

Well…that went about as well as it did in Canon for the Red Ribbon Army.
Technically it went a bit worse as Goku decimated most of the soldiers, rather than letting the majority run away. Those that did escape, Goku didn’t chase, of course, he’s still Goku. But the base was WAY more damaged since Goku didn’t hold back his strength and was more than willing to use ki attacks as well.
Now that the Red Ribbon Army has fallen, no one else is looking for the Dragon balls except Goku and friends…right?
Launch believes in Goku’s promise to her…very cute and sweet, yes?
Caulifla, Kale, and Roshi continue their training as well! All three are getting stronger and stronger as Saiyans grow quickly and Roshi regains some power and conditioning that he’s lost over the many years of peaceful hermit life.
But now the seventh and final Dragon Ball has disappeared from the radar! What’s that about? Will Goku have to climb Korin Tower and briefly interrupt Bulma’s training to figure out what’s going on?
Keep reading to find out!

Glad you enjoyed the chapter! Yep, RRA is gone! Colonel Violet really was the only one that saw the writing on the wall when a single person started to tear up the entire headquarters singlehandedly and shrugged off gunfire and everything. lol

The Red Ribbon Army are now no more...for now. I liked that you had Goku use the Dodonpa a couple times during his raid and the moment he used a gun as a weapon in his own way. I don't understand Black during the latter part of the raid (same in the actual series). Once the foot soldiers' morale was broken and they started to flee the base, Black pretty much told Commander Red to give up on the Dragon Balls and surrender/retreat (for now at least). But after he kills Red and promotes himself to Commander, he changes his mind and suddenly thinks he can defeeat Goku with his Battle Jacket...only to get killed by Goku in the process. Bravo, Commander Black, bravo (sarcasm). Colonel Violet is the only high ranking person at the base who had any sense; she didn't fight Goku, she took the money and ran, and as far as I know never participated in any of the future RRA plots for revenge. Soon it'll be time to head to Baba's place to fight her 5 fighters in order to find where the last DB is at.

That's because the actual Chapters 37 and 38 were flagged and hidden and Patreon refuses to let them put of review hell. So, while they technically count towards the number of chapters, they can only be accessed through the two posts that were added to the collection with the GDocs links in them.

Making quite a few assumptions about Dragon Ball Z when we're barely at the halfway point for Dragon Ball. lol You'll see how things play out in time, no worries!
