Chapter 6 – Lessons in Leadership, Adventurer Party
The Bastet Familia was having their first ever Familia meeting the day after Tione and Tiona had visited during breakfast. After all the former Berbera members had written down their official statements about what they’d witnessed of the Freya Familia’s attack on the Pleasure Quarter in the Entertainment District, a good portion of the day had passed. But with that obligation out of the way, Tione and Tiona had given everyone their thanks, kissed Bell soundly in front of the entire Familia, and headed back to Loki Familia with the reports to let Finn make copies before handing the originals over to the Guild.
Now, a new day had dawned, and Bastet knew it would be best to make sure that she got her Familia organized and everyone on the same page.
“I hereby call this first meeting to order!” Bastet grinned at her Familia, getting a smattering of chuckles at the clear joke. Bastet wasn’t so serious, unless she needed to be, wanting her Familia to be more relaxed and happy. “Well, first things first, Aisha has graciously agreed to become the Vice-Captain of our Familia!” The Cat Goddess beamed and motioned to Aisha sitting on her left.
That got a round of applause and calls of ‘About time!’ from more than a few of the former Berbera. Aisha had been the de-facto Vice-Captain of Ishtar Familia for years, but was never given the actual role, just the work.
“I’ll do my best to support the Familia, and our Captain.” Aisha said, giving Bell a warm and loving look.
“Thank you, Aisha.” Bell returned the smile just as warmly.
Bastet smiled at the love and warmth in her Familia before focusing on the next thing. “I’ll, unfortunately, be at the Guild for a portion of the day going over the large increase in our numbers and power. Thanks to everyone here that joined up, our Familia Rank is definitely going to go up. Not sure how much yet, though.”
Samira raised her hand and Bastet gave her a nod. “It shouldn’t be more than one rank, I believe, Goddess. A Familia’s rank is determined not only by strength, but by their contributions and influence in Orario as well.”
“Is that how it works?” Bastet tilted her head cutely, her cat ears twitching a little. That got more than a few coos at the cuteness from the gathered women.
“Yes. It’s why a Familia like Astraea Familia is considered a B Rank, while the much larger Apollo Familia is considered only a D Rank.” Samira explained by comparing two well-known Familia in Orario.
Bastet hummed thoughtfully. “In that case, since we’re still so new, they probably won’t go crazy with our rank. I didn’t want to have a huge tax bill placed on us later by being ranked too high right off the bat.” Once more, the former Berbera members were stunned that Bastet was looking out for them and the Familia with such care and concern. The stark difference between how Bastet ran her Familia and how Ishtar ran hers was staggering. “Well, with that worry out of the way, let’s move on to the next thing!” She pointed at her Familia with a grin. “Dungeon Parties! We have plenty of members, so we should form teams of at least three, but as many as five or six, that way we can make sure that everyone can safely dungeon crawl!”
“I’ll go with Bell!” Chacha, Ikumi, and Matora called out simultaneously. All three young women looked at each other for a second before little grins crossed their lips.
“What’s your reasoning?” Aisha, in her new position as Vice-Captain, asked the three girls. It was a legitimate question and Aisha wanted to see if they actually had a reason beyond their relationship with Bell.
Ikumi answered first. “I’m both Adventurer and Supporter. Bell doesn’t have a Supporter and he’ll need someone for that role now that he’s almost to the Tenth Floor.” It was simple, but sound, logic that no one could really refute.
“I’m only one Level higher than Bell, so I can help him explore and conquer the last few Floors of the Upper Floors!” Chacha said with a big smile as she looked at Bell.
Bell couldn’t help but return the smile, Chacha was just too cute not to.
“Same here,” Matora agreed with Chacha. “And with the three of us, we can take Bell to more challenging areas on the Upper Floors so that our Captain grows stronger, faster.” The way she smirked at Bell, her silvery eyes filled with challenge, made Bell’s rubellite eyes nearly burn in response.
Aisha pretended to think it over for a moment. “Fair reasoning. I think you’ll make a good Party.” She looked at Bell with a little grin. “What do you think, Captain?”
“I’ll be happy to work with Ikumi, Chacha, and Matora.” Bell agreed with a nod. “I have to get stronger and fill my role as Captain to support our Familia.”
“Well said.” Samira nodded, shooting Bell a warm and affectionate smile. “That’s how a Captain should think and behave.”
“Exactly!”
“Right!”
“Way better than Phryne!”
“That doesn’t take much.”
“You can do it Captain!”
The calls from the rest of the Familia made both Bell and Bastet smile at the unity already within their family.
While the rest of the members quickly partied up, most forming their groups from their previous ones that they’d gone into the Dungeon with back in the Ishtar Familia, Bell sat with Matora, Ikumi, and Chacha near Bastet, with Aisha and Samira sitting in as well.
“Alright, Bell, as the Captain and leader of the Party, you’ll need to learn the various roles that’re taken by the members of said Party, and who excels in which area.” Aisha began to teach Bell everything he needed to know about making a Dungeon Party.
“While the entire Familia can partner up and form larger Parties easily, the Party that you work with most often needs to be in sync with each other and know their roles so that they can perform them to the best of their ability.” Samira also offered her experience on the matter.
Bell nodded in understanding, listening closely to the advice and new information from his more experienced Familia members. ‘I need to learn all of this so that I can be the best Captain for my Familia and help everyone whenever they need it.’ Bell’s dedication to his Familia, his family, only grew stronger and more intense as the lesson on Parties and roles continued.
-Dungeon ~ Ninth Floor-
Bell ducked a swipe from a Killer Ant’s claw and lopped off it head with the Bast Sword. Stepping to the side let him avoid the snapping mandibles of a second Killer Ant; countering with a strong chop from his blade that split the ant Monster’s head in two. “Sunburst!” He held out his left hand and unleashed the burning light.
“Kree!”
“Skree!”
“Krreeek!”
Three more Killer Ants burned to death in the heat of the Radiant Magic.
“Hah!” Matora barked out a laugh as she punched a Frog Shooter and sent it through the air to splatter against the wall. “Is this all you have?!” She demanded while easily dodging the lashing tongues of three more Frog Shooters. Matora grabbed the three tongues before they could retract and used her strength to swing the three frog Monsters around like giant flails.
Splat
The sound of the three Frog Shooters smashing into the stone wall was…unique. Blood painted the wall in thick red splatter as the corpses of the Monsters slid down it.
A small horde of Needle Rabbits rushed at Chacha, looking to impale her like a wall of spikes.
“Sorry little bunnies!” Chacha scooped up a rock from the floor. “Warp creation and tip the balance. Scale!” She cast her Magic on the stone in her hand and it instantly grew into a massive boulder. Without a second of hesitation, Chacha threw the boulder forward, letting it roll through the corridor and crush all of the Needle Rabbits coming at her. “Strike!” She laughed at taking out all of the Monsters in one shot.
Ikumi shook her head at Chacha having fun with her Magic with a small grin. “Never changes.” She mumbled as she brandished her massive sword with the large hook-like serrations. “Too bad none of you look appetizing.” Ikumi’s grin turned into a threatening smirk as her green eyes sharpened on the approaching Killer Ants.
“Skreee!” The Killer Ants screeched.
Shing
Ikumi’s massive blade was little more than a blur of silver in the air. The wicked looking teeth of the sword tore apart every single Killer Ant they touched, splattering the floor and even the walls with ant blood. Even with the large backpack on her back, Ikumi moved easily, hacking apart two, three, or four Killer Ants with every swing of her massive sword. “You’re kinda disappointing, even in groups.” She said to the last two Killer Ants before brutally hacking them apart, sending parts of them flying to hit the ground a few meters away.
“Pyik!” A Needle Rabbit came at Matora from behind as the Amazon smashed her fist through the head of a Killer Ant.
Matora didn’t even turn around. Her long ponytail seemingly came alive and struck like a snake, snatching the Needle Rabbit out of the air and slamming it into the wall with a sickening crack. The dead Monster fell to the floor as Matora’s ponytail fell to her back again, perfectly normal. “You’ll have to do better than that.” Matora turned her head to look at the dead Needle Rabbit, her silver eyes alight with the thrill of the fight.
“Hahaha!” Chacha laughed as she pummeled three Frog Shooters with her bare fists. “These guys are so squishy!”
“Hup!” Bell cut down Purple Moth that was fluttering through the air, scattering its toxic dust. “Now you!” He rushed forward, ducked under the swipe of a Killer Ant, decapitated it with a swing of his Khopesh Treasure Sword, pivoted to dodge the lashing tongue of a Frog Shooter, and then threw his hand forward, palm out. “Sunburst!”
The bright light and heat roasted the Frog Shooter alive before it could even cry out in pain. When the light faded, only the smoking corpse was left behind.
“Is that all of them?” Matora asked as she tossed aside the body of the last Monster she’d killed, a Killer Ant.
“Just one more!” Ikumi called out as her large sword nearly tore off the head of the last Frog Shooter. A splattering of blood coated the floor as the Monster fell dead, its body and head almost two meters apart from each other.
Chacha smiled happily at wiping out the group of Monsters. “This was more fun than I expected. No wonder you always come so far off the beaten path, Bell.”
It’s worked for me, so far.” Bell smiled back as he flicked the blood off his sword and sheathed it. “Do you need any help harvesting the Monsters, Ikumi?”
Ikumi smiled at Bell for his consideration. “No, I’m good.” She bulled the black cleaver blade from the sheath on her hip. “You guys just watch my back while I work!”
“Sure thing.” Matora grinned while helping toss the corpses into a pile so that Ikumi could work easier.
“Right!” Chacha also helped gather the Monster corpses that were the furthest away.
Bell could only marvel at how quickly and efficiently Ikumi was harvesting the Magic Stones. A single swipe of her cleaver and each Monster was perfectly cut open to expose its Magic Stone…but not once did Ikumi ever actually hit the critical stone of any of the slain Monsters. ‘Cut, take the stone, next body… It’s so quick that Ikumi makes it look easy.’
The pile of Monster corpses was quickly disappearing as Ikumi worked with Chacha, Bell, and Matora watching her back.
“Hey, is anyone getting hungry?” Ikumi asked as she neared the end of the harvesting. “It’s about lunch time.”
“I could eat!” Chacha raised her hand with a grin.
“Don’t tell me…” Matora grimaced as she saw the last Frog Shooter that was left.
Bell blinked before recalling what he knew of one of Ikumi’s Skills. “Oh…”
Ikumi looked at Matora flatly. “Frog is edible. I know how to cook it.”
“Fine. But only because it’s your cooking.” Matora relented with a shrug.
Bell watched as the black cleaver cut up the Frog Shooter’s legs, the strength behind each of Ikumi’s swings more than enough to cleanly sever the limbs. In only a few moves, the skin was sliced, peeled, and the feet removed. All with the large cleaver, which Bell didn’t think was possible with such a blade. ‘Precise cutting, absolute control of the blade and her strength…’ Watching Ikumi prepare a raw ingredient was more entrancing than Bell thought it would be.
“This, this, and this…” Ikumi pulled out a metal pot, a flat circle of a material that Bell wasn’t familiar with, and a metal stand. “Flow and fill the vessel. Akan Su.” Ikumi used her Water Magic to fill the large pot and place it on the metal stand. The Frog Shooter legs were cleanly stripped of their meat with Ikumi’s black cleaver, and the meat was added to the water. “The flames of passion become food for the spirit. Alev.” The disc of black material was briefly hit with a small stream of flames from Ikumi’s Fire Magic, revealing it to be a type of flammable fuel that burned strongly without any smoke.
“Ooh, can we have the slightly spicy seasoning this time?” Chacha asked with a grin. “That was good on the pork the other night!”
Ikumi grinned back as she pulled out a bottle of reddish powder from her large backpack. “Sure thing. Frog Shooter is tougher and less slimy than regular frog meat, so stewing it helps make it softer. A strong spice blend will soak into the meat if we add it to the water in the pot.” She shook a generous amount of the powder into the pot that was over the fire and a minute later a pleasant, spicy aroma began to fill the air.
A bit later and the meat was pulled out of the pot and put on wooden plates for everyone. The meat that wasn’t on the plates was left in the pot as Ikumi snuffed out the fire and left the residual heat to keep the meal warm. Frog Shooters were large enough to almost swallow a grown man and their legs were equally large and had plenty of meat on them.
“This is good!” Bell marveled in surprise after taking his first bite.
“Mhmm!” Chacha agreed, nodding with her mouth full.
Matora chewed on her frog meat and swallowed. “Softer than I recall. The spiciness helps the flavor a lot.”
Ikumi finished off her first bite and looked thoughtful. “Stewing it definitely helped. Last time I tried to sauté it, but since it’s different from actual frog meat that didn’t work out as well as I wanted. This isn’t bad, but I could probably still do better.”
“Always critical of your cooking, Ikumi.” Chacha giggled at her friend. “It’s delicious!” She took another bite with a big smile.
“Chacha’s right, Ikumi!” Bell praised her with a smile. “This is amazing!” He took another bite of the seasoned meat with a happy grin.
“Thanks, Bell…” Ikumi had a blush on her cheeks at the praise for her cooking, especially from Bell. She tried to hide it as she picked up more of her food and ate.
Matora finished off her first plate and took a sip of water from one of the canteens that Ikumi had set out. “I think we’re not too far form the Pantry on this Floor. How about we take Bell there after lunch?”
Chacha looked between Bell and Matora once before speaking. “I think he can handle an Upper Floor Pantry.” She nodded in agreement. “And we’re here to help him too.”
“It’s about the only area we haven’t gotten to today.” Ikumi said after swallowing her food. “Do you want to give it a try, Bell?” She looked at their Captain and Party Leader.
“Pantry…the feeding ground of Monsters.” Bell recalled Anna’s lessons on the Dungeon. “A place that sees the most Monster traffic on any Floor.” Bell had avoided them while he’d been solo, both at Anna’s request (demand), and because after learning about them, it seemed suicidal to go there without backup given that the number of Monsters was high and more always came to the Pantry with considerable frequency. Bell looked at Ikumi, Chacha, and Matora…locking eyes with Matora for a moment. “I’ll try it. It could probably help me raise my Basic Abilities a good amount.”
“That’s right, Bell!” Matora’s smirk was filled with challenge and the thrill of an impending battle. “Overcome this Pantry and get even stronger~” The almost sultry drop in her tone near the end made a small spark race up Bell’s spine.
Ikumi and Chacha both agreed as well. Ikumi licking her lips once as she looked into Bell’s eyes. Chacha giving Bell a confident and playful grin when their eyes met a second later.
-Dungeon ~ Ninth Floor ~ Pantry-
The Monsters never seemed to stop.
That was what Bell thought as the Party continued to fight with the light of the large spire of glowing quartz crystal illuminating the large cavern.
“Sunburst!” Bell unleashed his Magic, engulfing a handful of the larger Kobolds that spawned on the Ninth Floor. He didn’t stop moving as he brought his Khopesh around to cut down a Needle Rabbit that had leapt at him from the side. The rabbit Monster split in half, with each half flying off in different direction. With a pivot, Bell blocked the claws of another large Kobold and slammed his knee into its stomach. As the Monster folded over, Bell’s blade split its skull and killed it.
“Blue Papilio’s!” Chacha called out as she spotted a pair of the Rare Monsters fluttering into the cavern. Two quickly tossed stones and the butterfly Monsters were falling to the ground off to the side of the current horde of Monsters. Given the holes piercing straight through both giant butterflies, it was clear they wouldn’t be moving again.
Matora high-kicked a Killer Ant so hard that its head was torn off and impacted the high ceiling before falling back down with a dull thump. “You’re doing great, Bell!” She praised Bell with a wild grin.
Matora wasn’t just being nice. Bell was legitimately doing well for his first time in a Pantry. He moved well, avoided the blows that he could, blocked or parried what he couldn’t avoid, and if he ever got close to being surrounded, he unleashed his Sunburst spell to give himself some space. It was a tactical way of fighting that a solo Adventurer would have taken weeks or perhaps a month to come up with…much less master. But Bell had the teachings of his Amazon girlfriends, the solid foundation they helped him create, both physically and in battle IQ, that had made him grow by leaps and bounds already.
“Focus!” Ikumi said as she swung her huge sword through four Killer Ants at once, the scattered parts of the torn up bodies splattering across the floor. “There’s still more coming!” She was proud of Bell too, of course, but their job as Bell’s Party members right now was to keep him from getting overwhelmed in the Pantry.
Bell swung his sword through a Kobold’s neck, sending the head flying. His Khopesh cleanly sliced through the exoskeleton of a Killer Ant in the next second, his Sacred Sword Skill increasing the damage done to Monsters, nearly invalidating the normally sturdy bodies of the ant Monsters. “Yah!” Bell lunged forward to cut down a Frog Shooter before it could lash out with its long tongue. The softer body of the frog Monster was cleanly cut, spilling blood and guts onto the floor as it dropped dead.
“Grrrr!”
“Kreee!”
“Gero!”
More Monsters were already behind Bell, far more than he could take out with just his sword.
“Sunburst!” Bell cast, blasting the horde pointblank with the Radiant Magic, burning them all to death in only a second or two. He ducked into a spin and cut down a Kobold that had been charging for his back, its claws passing through empty air as Bell bisected it at the waist. The charging Killer Ants coming in from all sides made Bell’s eyes widen as the ant monsters easily clambered over their fallen Monster kin to claw and snap at Bell. Already crouched low form dodging the previous Kobold, Bell had to think quickly. “Sunburst!” Bell cast again, but this time into his sword as he swung putting all the torque he could get into the swing as he moved his body in a full circle.
A golden, burning light arced outward from Bell’s swing, seemingly lengthening his Khopesh’s range. The light burned straight through all of the Killer Ants in its path as if they were no more than paper.
“Kee…”
“Gee…”
The dying Killer Ants twitched and let out small sounds. All of the ones that had been attacking Bell were now bisected neatly and cleanly in a circle surrounding the Adventurer.
Bell wasted no time in finishing each of them off as fast as he could, lest they use their pheromones to call for more backup.
“What was that, Bell?!” Chacha asked with an amazed look in her eyes. “I saw you getting swarmed, but right before I got to you, there was a glowing arc of your Magic and then all the Killer Ants were cut in half!”
“I…just thought it might work…so I cast my Sunburst through my sword.” Bell explained, still looking at his own weapon in a little surprise. He was vaguely aware that it had Mithril in it, which was supposedly good at conducting Magic, but he hadn’t been thinking about that at the time. “It worked out well…”
Chacha laughed brightly and put her hands on her hips, the motion doing interesting things to her large breasts, catching Bell’s eyes as they bounced a bit. “It sure did! They didn’t stand a chance!”
Ikumi and Matora got closer to Bell and Chacha as the sound of more Monsters approaching got louder.
“Looks like the stench of blood has riled up the Monsters that were coming to eat.” Ikumi said as growls, ribbits, and the chittering and screeching of Killer Ants could be heard now.
Matora punched her right fist into her left palm with a ferocious smirk. “Let them come! This was only mildly entertaining anyway! Bell was taking these weaklings out easily!”
As the new horde rushed into the Pantry, even Matora blinked at the sheer number. Frog Shooters, Killer Ants, Kobolds, Purple Moths, Needle Rabbits, another two Blue Papilio, and even a few War Shadows (which didn’t need to eat due to their golem-like existence), were all charging into the Pantry that was already full of piles of dead Monsters.
Bell rapidly considered the number of enemies, how long the Party had already been fighting, and his own condition, all in time for him to raise his Khopesh Treasure Sword above his head. “Light of heaven, the song of life, the dance of the guardian. Protect my treasure, restore my treasure, and strengthen my treasure. Treasure Light!” His sword briefly glowed before the golden light covered all four of them, healing any small injuries they had, boosting their stats, and leaving a faint glow around them to protect them.
“Whoa!” Ikumi blinked as she felt the rush of Bell’s spell on her.
“It’s warm!” Chacha smiled, loving the feeling of the Magic.
Matora looked over at Bell with a sexy grin. “Someone’s getting a reward later.”
The three Levels 2’s were off like a shot.
Bell wasn’t far behind, but the first wave of Monsters were already a cloud of blood and body parts before Bell could reach the horde. Seeing a section of the horde that was clear, Bell tried out his new discovery again. “Sunburst!” He cast the Radiant magic into his sword and swung it in a wide arc at the approaching Monsters. The arc of golden light passed through the flesh of the Monsters like they weren’t there. Bell stomped on a Killer Ant’s head before it could call for help as he kept moving. There wasn’t even any blood spilled from the Monsters he’d cut down; the wounds had been cauterized instantly as soon as they were made.
“Warp creation and tip the balance! Scale!” Chacha used her Magic again, this time on a wooden spoon from Ikumi’s backpack. The cooking utensil grew to the size of a halberd, or a very large boat oar…and Chacha wielded it just like one. A single swing knocked every Monster in front of her to one side. The broken bodies hit the floor and the walls as Chacha exerted her Level 2 strength, further boosted by Bell’s Abjuration Magic. “Hup!” She leapt upwards and came down on more of the Monsters with a huge overhead swing of the wooden weapon.
BAM
Monsters were crushed and torn apart as the stone of the floor shattered from the force of the impact.
“Hahaha! This is awesome!” Chacha laughed, her Amazon blood practically singing in the heat of battle. Her three Skills were all bolstering her power as she fought the large horde. Kuvvet (Power) always passively boosted her Strength stat. Çetin Savaş (Heavy Combat) raised her Endurance and helped restore her stamina as she fought. While Amazon Spirit boosted the effects of both her Skills and her Magic while fighting, with a stronger effect than normal since there were two more Amazons near her in the form of Ikumi and Matora.
“HYAH!!!” Ikumi was getting into the battle as well as a fierce (and sexy in Bell’s opinion) grin was on her face as she hacked through another group of Monsters with a single swing of her massive sword. The large, shredding hook-like teeth of her blade spared no Monster as they were all equally torn asunder. As long as she wielded a blade, her Carve Skill boosted her Strength and Dexterity stats substantially. With Bell’s Abjuration Magic boosting her even further, the Monsters fell to her sword like wheat before a farmer’s scythe. Blood flew through the air so quickly and in such large amounts that Ikumi was quickly covered in it.
BAM
Matora had a wild smirk on her face as she cratered the floor with the body of a Killer Ant; crushing a Frog Shooter beneath the Monster she was using as a hammer in the process. “You have me outnumbered! You can do better than that!” Matora shouted at the horde of Monsters. Her long ponytail lashed out like a snake, ‘biting’ the throat of a large Kobold and crushing it in a spray of blood. The dying Monster dropped to the floor as its lifeblood poured out of it. “Slow.” She was suddenly in a Frog Shooter’s face as her fist splattered the sole eye of the Monster and was buried up to her mid forearm from the force. She tossed the dead frog Monster to the side and pivoted to the left to avoid the swipe of a Killer Ant’s claws. “Weak.” She punched the Killer Ant in the side of the head, its exoskeleton shattering like pottery, before the head burst into a bloody splatter. “Using my Skill is practically overkill.” Matora scoffed at the rapidly declining horde of Monsters. Battle Aura heavily increased her Strength, Endurance, and Agility at the cost of a continuous drain on her Mind when she activated it. But with the boost from Bell’s Magic, this battle was almost too easy. Matora kicked a Needle Rabbit out of the air, the small rabbit Monster smashing into the far wall and then exploding into black ashes as its Magic Stone was crushed from the force.
“Sunburst!” Bell cast his Magic from his palm, the burning light torching another group of Monsters. Before the Magic fully faded, he cast again by pouring more Mind into his hand. Three more spheres of radiant magic tore through the remaining Monsters ahead of him, scorching them black in most cases. “Huh?” Bell stopped and looked around. “Is that all of them?”
The entire Pantry was now littered with Monster corpses. Blood had mixed into the pool of clear liquid produced by the spire of glowing quartz crystal in the center of the chamber. The golden glow around the four Adventurers faded away and all of them examined the cavern with their eyes while keeping their ears sharp for the sound of any other approaching Monsters.
“Looks like we’re done, for now.” Chacha commented, the enlarged wooden spoon she was carrying with her caked in blood.
“I’ll get to work quickly.” Ikumi said as she set her large backpack down. “You owe me a new spoon, by the way.” She said to Chacha as she looked at the ruined cooking utensil that her friend had ‘borrowed’ from her bag.
Chacha rubbed the back of her head sheepishly. “Sorry, Ikumi…my bad.”
“Damn…Ikumi you’re covered in blood.” Matora remarked on Ikumi’s current condition.
Ikumi cocked an eyebrow at Matora. “Look who’s talking.”
Matora was also covered in blood, especially her fists and feet, but also her legs, chest, and some of her hair.
“Yeah, I could use a shower.” Matora admitted as she looked at her hands and moved her ponytail with her Skill to see that the ends of her long hair were caked with blood too.
-Guild Exchange ~ Late Afternoon-
“Oh, damn…”
“Must’ve run into one hell of a horde.”
“That’s a lot of blood…”
The comments of the other Adventurers in the Guild were easy to hear as Bell’s Party walked over to the Exchange.
Ikumi’s large backpack was filled to bursting with Drop Items and Magic Stones. The new Party having called it quits shortly after clearing the Pantry given that there wasn’t any space left for loot.
“W-Welcome…” The man behind the glass greeted the four-man Party. Without another word he pushed the large drawer onto their side.
Chacha and Matora unloaded the multitudes of Killer Ant Claws, Needle Rabbit Tusks, and Kobold Nails into the large drawer while Ikumi and Bell filled the tray with Magic Stones.
After two rounds of filling and emptying the large drawer, and five rounds of filling and emptying the tray, the Guild employee could finally start valuing the Drop Items and Magic Stones.
“Okay…” The man let out a long exhale several minutes later. “Your Magic Stones are worth 43,627 Valis. Your Drop Items are worth 36,700 Valis. Your total exchange today is 80,327 Valis. Please, have a nice evening.” The Guild employee behind the glass gave the Party a polite smile and a short bow as he pushed the mid-sized drawer onto the Adventurers’ side. A simple sack holding all the coins they’d earned was sitting in the drawer.
“Thank you, sir.” Bell picked up the sack and handed it to Ikumi, who quickly placed it into her large backpack for safekeeping.
As they walked over to the meeting areas to meet with their various Advisors and report on their day in the Dungeon, none of them wanted anything more than to get home and bathe.
But they had one more stop to make before home.
-Blue Pharmacy-
“Bell nice to…see you…again…” Naaza trailed off as she saw the state of Bell, Ikumi, Matora, and Chacha. “You all need to shower.” She stated plainly with a flat tone.
“No shit.” Matora said with an equally flat look.
“We went a bit wild today.” Chacha still managed a smile.
Ikumi pulled out three specific items with Bell’s help and placed them on the counter. “One Purple Moth Wing, two Blue Papilio Wings…give us a good price, no screwing around.” She really wanted to get all this blood off of her.
Naaza looked at the four of them again before a small smile cross her lips. “Alright, just this once.”
“Thank you, Miss Naaza.” Bell appreciated her kindness given their situation.
-Bubastis ~ Evening-
“Aaahhh~” Ikumi let out a pleased sigh as the hot water cleaned off the blood covering her. “Mmm~” She let out a soft moan as Bell’s hands ran over her body, cleaning her with a lathered up sponge.
Bell was meticulous in his cleaning of Ikumi’s body, cleaning her blonde hair of the blood stuck to it with shampoo, her skin with a large sponge covered in thick lather, and he made sure to pay attention to certain areas as well.
Ikumi looked at Bell over her shoulder with a grin. “You’re not even cleaning at this point.” Bell continued his ministrations and Ikumi pressed her ass back into his soapy hands. “But keep going~”
Chacha and Matora both had cute little pouts on their faces as they waited for Bell to come wash them too.
“Hah~” Ikumi moaned as Bell’s soapy hands groped her impressive tits, teasing and rolling her nipples between his fingers while moving her breasts around.
Bell enjoyed the softness of Ikumi’s tits for a bit longer before he kissed her lips. As Ikumi enjoyed the kiss, Bell rinsed her off, and smiled at her when the kiss broke. “Tub.” He only said the one word, but Ikumi turned and, with a sexy sway in her hips that sent her amazing ass bouncing, walked towards the large inground tub filled with hot water.
“I win!” Matora smirked in triumph over Chacha.
“Darn it…” Chach pouted, looking at her fist. Losing rock-paper-scissors meant that she had to go last!
“Matora.” Bell smiled as Matora joined him under the shower.
Matora wasted no time as she pressed her body against Bell’s, her large tits molding against Bell’s more defined pectorals. “Clean me up nicely, Bell~” Their lips met as Bell brought the soapy sponge to Matora’s skin and began to clean her off. “Aaahh~” She let out a soft moan as Bell lovingly cleaned every inch of her body, from her feet to her hair. Bell gently ran his fingers through Matora’s long locks, cleaning off all the blood until not a trace remained.
“So nice.” Bell murmured into Matora’s ear as one hand played with her nice ass, feeling the strength hidden under the softness and smooth skin, while the other groped one of her large tits.
“Mhmm…” Matora smirked at him over her shoulder. “Taking your reward yourself.” She hummed pleasurably as Bell’s fingers took hold of her nipple and pinched it, while his hand on her ass gave it a firm grope before a light swat made it bounce.
“Tub.” Bell whispered into her ear after teasing her body for a bit.
Matora swayed her hips for Bell’s enjoyment as she walked towards the tub to join Ikumi in lounging and enjoying the hot water.
“My turn!” Chacha nearly glomped Bell in her excitement.
“Mmph!” Bell’s words were cut off before he could say anything as Chacha stole his lips in a kiss. When the two broke apart, a thin trail of saliva connecting their lips that was destroyed by the shower water, they just smiled warmly before Bell readied the soapy sponge again.
Chacha cooed and mewled under Bell’s gentle cleaning. She spread her legs when Bell washed her thighs, letting his fingers ghost over her pussy teasingly. As he washed her tits, one at a time due to their size, Chacha moaned. “Mmmnnn~ You like big tits, Bell?” She pushed her breast into his hands more.
“I love the breasts of all my lovers.” Bell kissed her ear after whispering into it, making Chacha coo and shiver pleasantly. He began to wash her long, silvery-white hair, so close to the shade of his own hair, but still just a bit off. “Such long hair…” Bell mentioned as once Chacha’s hair was free from its normal ponytail, one could see its true length. “I like it.” He said as he gently cleaned and washed it.
“Love you, Bell~” Chacha giggled as Bell continued to show how much he adored and loved his girlfriends, always having a compliment about his feelings for them, their looks, their hair, their skills, or their personalities.
Bell played with Chacha’s huge tits, his hands nearly sinking into their softness. “Love you too, Chacha.” He kissed her neck, making Chacha leaned her head to the side and give him more access.
What Bell wasn’t expecting was to be pulled out of the shower by Chacha as soon as he turned it off. “Eh?” He blinked as he was sat on the bench at the edge of the large bathroom (next to the shelves where baskets for clothing were kept) and Chacha kneeled in front of him with a mischievous grin.
“Let me show you how much I love you, Bell~” Chacha purred as she hefted her tits up and trapped Bell’s cock between them. “Hehehe.”
Bell inhaled sharply as his dick was smothered by Chacha’s softness. “Chacha…” He didn’t get another word out as Chacha pressed her tits together more and began to move them up and down.
“Oh? What’s this?” Chacha giggled as just the very tip of Bell’s cock peeked out from her tits. “Are you trying to say even MY tits can’t engulf you completely?” She proved that she could easily do that as she pressed her breasts together and they swelled upward, making Bells’ cock disappear in the valley of softness.
“Chacha…amazing.” Bell could only watch as Chacha gave him a titfuck, her massive breasts smothering his entire length. The two locked eyes as Bell’s hips bucked once into the incredible softness.
Ikumi sighed as she and Matora watched the sexy sight while lounging in the huge tub together. “I should’ve thought of that.”
Matora nodded, resting her chin on the palm of her hand. “Same. It would’ve been an even better reward for Bell.”
Neither Amazon took their eyes away from Bell and Chacha as the titfuck started to get more intense.
“Mmm, you like that, Bell~?” Chacha teased as she moved her tits in time with Bell’s thrusts, letting him fuck her tits as he so clearly wanted to. “I can feel your hot, slippery stuff covering my tits~” The movements sped up with the added lubrication, Bell’s hips rising off the bench while his hands held onto the edge of it tightly.
Bell was barely in control of his hips at this point, thrusting into Chacha’s heavenly tits was beyond amazing. “Chacha…” He looked into her eyes, seeing them filled with warmth, love, desire, and heat. “I’m gonna…” He had to grit his teeth not to lose himself already.
Chacha increased her movements eagerly. “Do it! Cum between my tits, Bell~ I want to feel it all over me~” Her blood had NEVR been this hot before and it need a different kind of heat to calm it down!
“CHACHA!!!” Bell’s thrusts became fast and short as he hit his peak.
“Aaahhh, yes~” Chacha moaned breathily as she felt Bell’s hot seed against her skin. It just kept coming, covering more and more of her tits, until it finally escaped from between them and the thick cum coated the tops of her breasts. “Oooh, so much for me, Bell~” She was panting now, having had a minigasm just from titfucking Bell.
Once Bell’s vision returned and he managed to get his breath back, He leaned forward and captured Chacha’s lips in a deep kiss. The two moaned softly into their lip lock and deepened it a moment later, their tongue playing in Chacha’s mouth.
The sounds of water splashing broke the pair out of their kissing, only to see the naked forms of Matora and Ikumi beside them.
“Hey!” Chacha complained as she was pulled away from Bell and onto her feet. “What’re you two…” Her question died in her mouth as Ikumi and Matora each took hold of one of her tits and pulled them away from each other, revealing the mess of Bell’s seed that was sticking to Chacha’s bronze skin. “Oooaaah~” Chacha let out a lewd moan when Matora and Ikumi’s tongues licked some of Bell’s seed away. “Nooo… Mine~” Chacha’s hands came up to try and block her friends from stealing the seed that she’d earned.
“Shush.” Ikumi dragged the tips of her index and middle fingers through the large amount of still hot cum and then pushed them between Chacha’s lips.
Chacha instantly caught on and sucked on Ikumi’s fingers, running her tongue all over the digits to clean them completely, all the while Matora and Ikumi continued to clean her tits with their hot tongues.
“Here.” Matora repeated Ikumi’s actions once Ikumi pulled her fingers free of Chacha’s mouth.
“Hmm!” Chacha sucked Matora’s cum-coated fingers into her mouth and proceeded to clean them with her eager tongue, her body trembling slightly from the taste and the pleasure her friends were giving her.
All the while, Bell sat on the bench watching the incredibly sexy display. His length quickly returned to full mast as he watched and the twitching, throbbing length caught the eyes of the three Amazons as well.
The four stayed in the bath for FAR longer than normal that evening, even being late to dinner, though the rest of the Familia just gave them knowing looks and grins. Most especially Aisha and Samira, both near the head of the table next to Bastet.
Before the meal could start, Bastet got everyone’s attention.
“Everyone, I wanted to let you know what the Guild decided on for our Rank!” Bastet said loud enough to be heard.
The dining room got quiet as everyone focused on their Goddess.
“Since we’re so new and haven’t made any contributions to Orario yet, nor do we have much influence within the city, the Guild has determined that Bastet Familia will be moved up one Rank from an F Rank Familia to a D Rank Familia!”
“See? I told you that you didn’t have anything to worry about, Lady Bastet.” Samira smiled at her Goddess.
Aisha smiled at Bastet as well. “If you WANT our Familia to have a higher Rank, we can work on that, of course.”
Bastet shrugged her shoulders. “If we do, it means higher tax from the Guild. If we don’t, we won’t have as much influence as some other Familias.” She seemed to weigh the two sides in her head. “Let’s just see what happens.” Bastet waved it off with a smile and everyone laughed at the lackadaisical decision, filling the dining room with cheer.
-Bastet’s Room ~ After Dinner-
Bastet was watching Bell’s Excelia for the day and bordered on hugging him or swatting him upside the head. “Did you four HAVE to go to the Pantry?”
“No.” Bell answered. He wouldn’t apologize for it, as it had been good training and none of them had been danger with three Level 2’s there, but he would answer and take responsibility as Captain.
“Mm, I see.” Bastet smiled a little at Bell’s answer. Decisive, strong, and full of responsibility to his Party and his role as Captain. ‘You’re already embodying what it means to be a leader, Bell.’ Bastet thought, proud of her lover. She moved the Excelia over and watched as the Falna grew stronger from it. “Well, there’s definitely results from such harsh training. You even figured out a new application for your Magic.”
Bell smiled as he felt a paper pressed against his back for a moment. “Yeah, I didn’t know if it would work or not, but I remembered what you told me about the Bast Sword and what it was made from. It was amazing how well it worked.” He took the paper when Bastet handed it to him. “Thank you, Bastet.”
“You’re welcome.” Bastet kissed his shoulder and locked up his Falna.

“That’s…a lot.” Bell blinked twice as he looked at his stats. “I’ll hit the S 999 limit soon.”
“You will.” Bastet nodded and hugged him from behind. “Not even an Adventurer for a full month yet and already about to be as strong as you can be at Level 1. You’re so amazing, Bell.”
Bell enjoyed Bastet’s embrace. “I’ll keep doing my absolute best for you and our Familia, Bastet.”
“Love you, Bell.” Bastet purred, her tail standing up happily as she hugged him.
“Love you too.” Bell replied with all of the love and warmth he could put into his words.
A short time later, Bell excused himself to make way for Ikumi, who would be getting her Status update next. As he opened the door to Bastet’s room, he was mildly surprised to see a line formed in the long hallway. It seemed like almost half the Familia was planning to get a Status Update tonight. As he passed by Samira’s room, Bell noticed that the door was half open.
Samira looked up from her bed when there was a light knock on her door. “Bell?” She smiled when she saw her lover in the doorway. “Come in.”
Bell walked in and looked curiously at all of the paper that was on Samira’s bed. Small squares, large sheets, multiple colors, but none of them had any writing on them. “What’s all this?” He asked curiously.
“Origami.” Samira told him with a small blush on her cheeks. “I learned about it from Chacha, since she, Ikumi, and Matora are from a Tribe in the Far East, and liked it. It’s been my hobby ever since.” She knew it wasn’t very warrior-like and wondered what Bell would think of her of having such a ‘soft’ hobby.
“That’s interesting.” Bell said as he saw the paper crane on one side of Samira’s bed. “You folded the paper to make that, right?”
Samira looked up and saw only a smile of acceptance and curiosity on Bell’s face, His rubellite eyes shone with interest and Samira felt her heart thump a little in her chest. “Yeah… It’s not that hard.”
Bell sat on the edge of her bed. “Can you show me?”
“Sure.” Samira couldn’t stop the smile that spread across her face as she patted the spot next to her on the bed. Once Bell was sitting beside her, she placed a kiss on his cheek.
“What was that for?” Bell asked, touching the spot he’d been kissed.
Samira looked at him with a warm smile. “For being you.”
Bell accepted that and kissed her cheek in return.
“Before we get sidetracked…” Samira grinned at Bell. “Let me show you how to fold a paper crane.” She picked up one of the sheets of white paper and began to fold it in specific ways as Bell watched on, his interest and curiosity in the ‘Art of Paper Folding’ only growing as he watched the crane come together one fold of the paper at a time.
-Bastet’s Room-
“How does it look, Goddess?” Ikumi asked as she saw the familiar blue-white glow from the peripheral of her vision.
Bastet continued to watch the Excelia for a moment longer before she answered. “You worked very hard today, Ikumi. I still don’t know if going to the Pantry was necessary though.”
Ikumi lowered her head a little. “It was a group decision, but it worked out well.”
“It did.” Bastet agreed, making Ikumi blink at the lack of further chastisement. “You’ve made a bit of a jump, Ikumi.” She copied the new update onto the blank paper with a twirl of her finger and handed it to Ikumi.

Ikumi stared at her new Status Update in shock.
“Ikumi?” Bastet poked the Amazon in the back lightly. “I locked your Falna…are you alright?”
“H-How…?” Ikumi turned her head to look at Bastet. “My stats…so much…”
Bastet smiled, now understanding Ikumi’s shock. “That’s a benefit of being seen as family by Bell.”
Ikumi was clearly confused and looked between her update and Bastet. “What?”
Bastet giggled at how lost Ikumi looked for a second before she explained the basics of Bell’s first Skill.
After Ikumi had left Bastet’s room, still a little shocked, though now it was pleasantly shocked, Matora entered the bedroom and quickly pulled her short button-up shirt off (which was easy considering she’d only used two of the buttons on the bottom and barely covered her tits at all).
Bastet let a drop of her blood fall onto Matora’s back and smiled as she saw her Falna rise up from Matora’s skin. “Let’s see…” She began to watch the Excelia and see the day of dungeon crawling through Matora’s eyes. “Can I ask why you offered the idea of going to the Pantry?”
“Bell wants to get stronger, and he easily handled all of the Monsters on the Ninth Floor.” Matora said with conviction, she knew that she hadn’t done anything wrong. “With the three of use with him, we wouldn’t have let anything happen to Bell.”
“I don’t doubt that.” Bastet acknowledged, already knowing just how much the three young woman cared for Bell. She moved the Excelia over into Matora’s Basic Abilities and watched the numbers rise as the Falna grew stronger.
Matora was slightly surprised by the lack of further questions. Any disagreement in the Ishtar Familia was met with harsh words at the very least, but more often than not incurred a punishment. ‘Stop thinking about that. Ishtar is gone now and we’re finally in a Familia that actually cares about us.’
Bastet finished copying Matora’s update over and handed the paper to her. “Here you go, Matora.”
“Let’s see…” Matora was eager to see at least a couple of points of improvement after what they’d done today on the Ninth Floor.

“HOW?!” Matora exclaimed in shock at the vast jump in her stats. She whipped around to look at Bastet, her bare tits bouncing from the sudden movement. “My stats… They…so much…”
“Breathe, Matora…” Bastet soothed and gently coaxed Matora into a hug. “I’ll tell you what’s going on. Just breathe and calm down a little.” She rubbed Matora’s back the whole time to help calm her down.
Matora took a couple of deep breaths and settled down. “How did I grow so much? My Strength and Endurance are both S Rank now…my Agility is almost there too.”
Bastet smiled at Matora. “That’s the power of love for you.”
“Huh?” Matora looked absolutely bewildered.
“Hehehe…” Bastet giggled a little at the look. “Bell has a certain Skill…” She began to tell Matora the same thing that she’d told Ikumi.
A while later and Matora walked out of Bastet’s room with a happy smile on her lips and a spring in her step. As soon as she had some time alone with Bell, she was going to show him how much she appreciated his love for her. ‘Sparring first…then when we’re all hot and sweaty…’ Matora felt her heart race and she headed for the kitchen to get a cold drink before her Amazon blood started to burn.
Back in Bastet’s bedroom, Chacha was happily sitting with her back to Bastet, feeling her Goddess’s finger on her back as the blue-white glow shone from her skin. “Did I grow a bit?”
“A bit.” Bastet agreed with a mischievous grin while watching Chacha’s Excelia of the day. “You all worked hard today…even went and challenged a Pantry.”
“It was a good challenge. Bell even learned something new!” Chacha smiled at Bastet over her shoulder.
“Yes, he did.” Bastet giggled at Chacha’s excitement for Bell’s new discovery with his Sunburst Magic and his sword. “Slaying all of those Monsters does make for some growth.” She moved the Excelia into Basica Abilities and watched as the Falna grew stronger. “One sec…” She placed a blank paper on Chacha’s back and copied the new update over. “There we go.”
Chacha smiled as she took the paper form Bastet, “Thank you, Goddess.”

“Eh…?” Chacha made a noise, more than a word. Turning to look at Bastet as she pointed at her Status Update. “This… This is…GREAT!!!” The excitement returned to Chacha’s eyes and she pulled Bastet into a hug, squashing her large tits against Bastet’s breasts. “I grew so much!”
Bastet could only laugh brightly at Chacha’s enthusiasm and happiness. “Yes, you did!” She hugged Chacha back.
Chacha looked at her update again. “It seems like a lot for being on the Ninth Floor…even with the Pantry.” She looked at the paper closely, as if it would reveal some secret.
“Love is a powerful thing.” Bastet said with a cheshire grin on her lips.
“Love?” Chacha looked at Bastet in confusion.
Bastet nodded once. “Uh huh. More specifically, Bell’s love for you.”
Chacha blushed adorably, wrapping her arms around her body and swaying a little with a cute smile on her face.
“Bell has a Skill, you see…” Bastet began to explain while Chacha listened intently, only growing happier the more she heard as she fell even more in love with Bell.
It was a beaming Chacha that left Bastet’s bedroom a while later, on her way to talk with Ikumi and Matora to compare their experiences and maybe plan something to show Bell their appreciation.
“Hehehe~” Chacha giggled to herself happily, her heart full to bursting with her feelings for Bell.

Looks like the Bastet Familia has ranked up…slightly.
Good news for still low taxes! Kek!
Bell is learning how to be a Captain to the best of his Abilities! He has plenty to learn, but with his powerful dedication to his family, he’s sure to become a great Captain in time!
Bell’s Party has been formed! Will others join? From inside the Familia or outside?
Chacha, Matora, and Ikumi experience dungeon crawling with Bell and the benefits that Bell’s love for them brings thanks to his Skill! Anyone that Bell sees as ‘family’ gets a boost to their growth in proportion to their effort and the opponents (and number of opponents) they fight!
I do believe all of the Bastet Familia will soon experience faster than normal growth, as Bell quickly considers all of his Familia as ‘family’.
As things have changed and Bell is growing quickly, what else will change in response?
Keep reading to find out!
Let me know what you thought!
Until next time, later!

Kairomaru
Nah, probably not, as it's a secondary effect of his Skill. So, while they'll grow faster, they won't be able to break the limit. Still, having most of your Familia members with stats in the 'S' rank each Level is a great boost to the Familia's overall power.
R1Styx
So now I gotta question, since bell can go over S999 because of his skill, and since his skill is worded very similarly to Canon, does that mean everyone he regards as family will also overcome the basic attributes max?
Kairomaru
Kek!
chris murray
"I'll hit the S999 limit" sure, 'limit'
Kairomaru
Glad you like it!
animeharem
Love this
Kairomaru
Glad you enjoyed it! That's the beauty of Bell's Growth Hack Skill...they don't even NEED to be in the same Party for it to give them at least a little boost! As long as he considers them 'family' the Skill still works...even if at a slightly reduced capacity. That will be shown a bit more later on.
striker James
Definitely need next chapter wander of he alternating the girls he brings so everyone gets the boost
Kirito Beater
Over 9000!
Kairomaru
Maybe it is... Kek!

Huh. Is that a surviving Astraea Familia that I spy? :3

KEK!!! Happy you liked it! Chacha FTW! Though Matora and Ikumi are both FTW too... TAKE ALL THE AMAZONS!!!

RussianBadger: "Welcome back chat! Today we're going grinding in the dungeon with a big tiddy Amazon girl wielding what is unquestionably the most GOATed of all weapons: A COMICALLY OVERSIZED SPOON."
Kairomaru
Kek! Amazons that love Bell and WANT to get stronger and stronger because they're a Race of Warrior Women! *Cackles in plans*
Néstor Rocha
Huh. Without a doubt THIS will be the most OP bell you've written. Why? Because he now has amazons, freaking amazons know about his Liaris! Not skill. As a whole, these are love, nooki, breeding, and strength-obsessed morons. Dangle a skill that makes you and your lover(s) more OP the more you love each other and the harder you train and murder stuff... yeah, it's GG. As soon as they learn Bell can go over S rank, the strength-obsessed nutters will not allow him to level until they milk a single level's growth as much as possible. They want their mate and father of their babies to be as unreasonably OP as possible. And also for themselves! This well will likely end up with stats over 2000 if not higher by the time he levels up!
Kairomaru
Chacha, indeed! Got to love her bunches!
Tristan McKenzie O'Meara
*ahem* Chacha That's it. That's the comment.
Kairomaru
Happy you enjoyed it! The Growth Hack Skill is actually worded VERY similarly to how Liaris Freese is worded in Canon. Liaris Freese makes no mention of removing the limits of growth either. But to answer your question: Yes, Bell can break the limit thanks to his Growth Hack Skill.
Kairomaru
Oh yeah, soon enough the Bastet Familia will make some waves! How the rest of Orario will react to that, well...we will see when we get there!
Bles
🗿
Kairomaru
Indeed! Gonna have an entire CLAN of Amazons in Orario with the surname Cranel! Hehehe~
Kairomaru
Thank you, glad you liked it!
Kairomaru
Why would he face a specific Minotaur this time around? Glad you enjoyed the chapter! and thank you for the compliment!
Selacha
So we have the 25 refugees from the Ishtar Familia, Tiona and Tione, and one horny cat Goddess, and then we have our favorite Bunny with a serious case of Amazon Fever... Orario better prepare for the absolute FLOOD of red-eyed and/or white-haired little Amazon girls in a few years, lol.
savitar
I think the guild will go a little crazy when the Amazons of the Bastet family start to grow even more and become higher level adventurers Bell will surely become a level two quickly, he already has the stats at the top of level one, now he just needs a great feat Please let Apollo try something, god how I would like to see his face crushed along with the Soma family
Kylekatarn77
Awesome story as always! I gotta wonder outta curiosity- This growth hack skill doesn't, to my eye, actually say it removes the LIMITS on growth, though the wording seems to be better than others for personal and family growth. Will he still be able to break into SS? "Fast growth as long as feelings last. More desire results in faster growth. More effort results in stronger growth. "

Great chapter!

And we finally get other people’s reaction to Bell’s skill, now the question is which of his Amazon lovers won’t be able to hold back and ask for kids
