I believe the Genie was a prince bored with castle life and with a latent masochistic urge. Every time he strolled through the city and watched the Slave Men's Market, he wished he were one of them, always getting hard-ons and coming full of this masochistic desire. And also as he desired men and not women in his bed, the King, discovering the debauched son heir undeserving of the throne, ordered the sorcerer to punish the debauched prince, stripping him and making him eternally a slave to other men. The prince became a powerful genie, but imprisoned by human passions and condemned to live eternally trapped in a bottle, which can only be unlocked by men.

He became even more handsome as a mortal man. One can even imagine what he would have looked like before he acquired immortality as a genie. And the shackles attached to his wrists would be a reminder that even powerful he is nothing but a slave to human desires.
