Dev Update (27/08/2025)

Here's a quick dev update.
I'm currently working on the Border Zone map and trying to figure out a solid way to integrate this redesigned part of the game world as part of the upcoming demo.
This "Border Zone 2.0" is designed around a large vertical strip idea where I can insert modular map segments for each specific crossing point mechanic, so those doesn't require each a separate map. I will talk more about this idea in an upcoming devlog.
Then few other topics. The HK416 is now fully animated and M4A1 will be ready tomorrow. Since I already had most of the necessary sounds for these guns in the old Unity build, implementing these as part of the commercial branch happens really quickly.
Then when it comes to Steam Next Fest registration, I got a message from Steam yesterday that implied that RtV demo is considered to be part of the official event marketing by Steam
Basically Steam handpicks some registered games to this official marketing and if this happens to become a reality for RtV, this could potentially bring some sort of extra exposure to the project, but to be honest I'm not totally sure what this "handpicked" official event marketing slot means in practice.
Then few small additions. Yesterday I went through all the current items and activated item stacking for multiple other item types other than ammo. For example, now when there's a match requirement for lighting fires etc, you can stack match boxes and you can also stack stuff like cigarette boxes which have individual amounts in them etc. So now item stacking and item amounts are much more utilized in the game.

The only thing with stacking consumables that annoys me is having a stack of half empty things. Project Zomboid has the ability to combine things like matches and pills into one container so that doesn't happen. Just a suggestion.
