Max Power: 2
🕑 Added 2019-09-03 20:44:02 +0000 UTC... I said yes when she asked me out for a drink. And then I screenshotted our chat to send to Ms.O so we could squee over it, and ACCIDENTALLY SENT THE SCREENSHOT BACK TO MAX INSTEAD.
Yeah.
Smooth.
I’m really just
out here like this.
Someone take my phone.
I quickly made up an excuse about my phone being in my purse, oops, “at least I didn’t send an accidental nude!” I teased, trying to distract her from my blunder. “Nah, send those 😏” she replied. I sent a few photos from our Summertime Badness party. We made a plan for Wednesday night.
She picked a cute little gay bar in my neighbourhood and I picked a cute little dress. I took the streetcar there and listened to Lizzo on my headphones to pump myself up.
When I arrived she was already sitting, she looked so good, her tank top showed off her well-defined arms (I’d soon learn she’s a power lifter... ahem.) I leaned down to kiss her cheek just as she was standing up to greet me and ended up kissing her right on the forehead super awkwardly, continuing my reign of Uncool. She laughed it off and we sat down to talk.
I’m an emphatic speaker and I talk with my hands a lot, each time I gestured or waved my hand her eyes would dart to my fingers with a slightly alarmed look on her face. You know when you just feel like Too Much?
But I wasn’t too much, she was sweet and clearly into it. At one point I was rambling about my inability to make the first move and she smirked and said, surely, “It’s okay. I don’t have that problem.” Her calm confidence makes my tummy do backflips.
I asked her what her sign was (Capricorn), she raised an eyebrow. “Are you into that kinda stuff?” (Also, is that not the most Capricorn response?) “I mean...” I was literally wearing a necklace with my astrology sign on it at the time, “I think it’s fun.” She teased me about it, asked me to tell her a “Capricorn thing”. I quickly looked up Libra/Capricorn compatibility on my phone and CACKLED when I read the first line:
“Come on! The word POWER is in there, AND YOU’RE A POWER LIFTING ELECTRICIAN! That’s pretty on the nose,” she couldn’t argue with that. (I want to assure you, Reader, that I am taking FULL advantage of the wide range of puns available to me with her line of work, and yes, I put Electric Feel on the playlist I made for our second date. I’m insufferable.)
A drag show started at the bar, I got up to join her on her side of the table so I could get a better view of the stage, I slid in beside her on the bench and she wasted no time pulling me close for a kiss. She’s a good kisser. “See, I knew you’d put me outta my misery,” I smiled, thanking her for making the first move.
We talked out all of the awkward stuff, our personal situations, what we’re looking for, what’s possible and what isn’t. We watched one of the best renditions of ‘Send In The Clowns’ I’ve ever seen, the tiny gorgeous Queen performing was radiant. Max asked if she could see me again, I said yes. I nuzzled against her shoulder as we watched the rest of the show. She insisted on driving me home, she opened the door for me, she waited to make sure I got inside okay. She’s a gentleman.
An hour later I broke my own rule and texted her.
