I think that whatever happened between George and Ryan must have turned very ugly and personal. Those blog posts from a few months ago lamenting screenwriters wanting to “improve” the source material seemed to suggest as much. We know that that Ryan and Miguel had an ugly falling out. Maybe Ryan just isn’t as nice in private as he seems in interviews.

It’s astounding how HOTD unironically made Alicent the most despicable character on the show without even realizing it.

I think I now understand why GRRM can't finish the books; things won't always be perfect (even less, HIS specific definition of perfect), and if you want to be 100% protective of your story, you can't sell it to a massive corporation such as WB or you have to work with them at full capacity. I feel G wants his cake and eat it too, and I'm tired of the drama, really

I actually disagree - I think after the debacle of seasons 7&8 of GOT & now the disaster that was season 2 of HOTD, I think it's good that George has spoken out against the bacterization of his stories.
