The village of Thalyria lived by tides, harvests, and omens. Tucked between olive groves and pale stone, it had endured for generations. And for as long as anyone could remember, one truth held fast: every ten years, the night visitors came. Cloaked in silence, invisible yet undeniable, they would take a girl — always the same kind of girl. Tall. Strange. Unnaturally beautiful. Strong in ways that frightened people.
This time, everyone knew the girl was Athena.
And yet… no one came.
She had been born on the very day of the goddess’s festival, as drums echoed in the hills. Her mother named her Athena in reverence and fear, hoping to shield the child with the name itself. From the start, she grew like something ancient reborn. By ten, she was taller than her fifteen-year-old sister. By sixteen, she towered over every man in the village, her strength undeniable.
She no longer worked the fields. Not because she refused, but because the villagers kept her apart — revered, avoided, set aside. Still, when a wagon overturned, when the millstone jammed, when an ox collapsed, they called for her. And she came, wordless, barefoot, and unshakable.
They expected her to be taken. The pattern was clear, older than memory. But the year passed. Then another. And Athena remained.
Panic, though unspoken, began to fester.
The village elders, desperate and ashamed, made a journey in secret — eastward, beyond the hills, to the sacred caves of Skalos, where a blind priestess still whispered truths from stone and salt. They told her of Athena. Of the silence. Of the absence. The priestess listened, her face unmoved, her eyes clouded with time. Then she gave her answer:
"You have not lost her.
But you have failed to feed her."
The elders blinked, confused.
She clarified, her voice like wind over bone:
"She is a flame. You must feed the flame.
Offer her boys. Let her choose. Let her take.
If you do not, she will burn —
and all of you will burn with her."
They returned in silence.
No decree was issued. No announcement made. But everything shifted.
From that day forward, no one interfered. Young men were no longer called back when Athena held them too long under the olive trees. No questions were asked when she took two companions instead of one. No mother wept when her son came home changed — exhausted, quiet, somehow older.
The villagers watched her now like one watches fire: not with contempt, but with reverent dread.
Athena had not been taken.
She had become something to be fed.
And the more they gave her, the more she grew. Her body sharpened — powerful, radiant, coiled like a storm. Her gaze deepened, as though her soul was drifting farther from the mortal world with each passing day. She was no longer just the girl who should have vanished.
She was a force awakening.
And in whispered corners of Thalyria, a new fear took root:

But just beyond, beneath the twisted olive trees, an entirely different scene was unfolding.
Seated on a low stone wall, Athena reigned.
Her legs were crossed and still — sculpted like living marble, catching the full blaze of midday light. Her skin gleamed with a golden sheen, stretched over powerful muscles that seemed at rest, but never idle. She wore a simple black linen top and a short leather skirt, slit at the side to reveal her massive thighs, as if forged for war. Two long blonde braids framed her face, and her eyes fixed the horizon with something near divine calm.
To her left sat Nireas, the blacksmith’s son, his wheat-colored hair falling over his brow as he timidly laid a hand on her thigh. To her right, Theon, younger, darker-skinned, with tight black curls, kept his eyes closed — as if in prayer. Both of them sat lower than her, their legs dangling, their lean bodies fragile beside hers.
Athena said nothing.
She ruled.
She had summoned them that very morning, without reason or instruction. It was a custom now. Some days, she called. And they came. Not out of obligation, but out of need. Out of devotion. They never knew what she would ask. They only hoped to be chosen, to be seen, to be touched.
That day, she did nothing but make them wait.
She spoke little, brushing their knees with her hand, adjusting their posture with firm, deliberate gestures, keeping them suspended in a space between tension and tenderness. Then she asked them simple questions:
“Do you think I’m too strong for them?”
“Is that why they haven’t come for me?”
Nireas nodded silently, not daring to speak. Theon opened his eyes for a moment — then looked away.
Then she asked them to kiss.
Her voice was calm, like she was asking them to pass her a piece of fruit.
They hesitated.
Then, slowly, they leaned toward one another.
Athena didn’t even look. Her gaze remained fixed on the empty sky, her face unreadable. And when their lips brushed, she offered only the faintest smile — as if something inside her had settled. Or deepened.
The image burned itself into the minds of those who worked in the fields that day. For some had paused. Some had seen. And later, in hushed voices, they would say:
“She was never taken.
But she is the one taking them all.”

And yet, what truly unsettled them wasn’t her strength — it was the certainty in her gaze. She did not ask. She summoned.
The first few boys went to her like one walks into a storm — uncertain whether they’d emerge. And when they did, they were never the same. They moved slower afterward. Spoke less. Their eyes lost that reckless spark and replaced it with something quieter, almost reverent. They said little. But one thing began to spread through the village like pollen on the wind: Athena was not a woman. She was an experience.
And then came the stronger boys — the proud ones. The sons of warriors and blacksmiths. The ones who mocked in groups but fell silent when alone. They too were eventually summoned. And when Athena touched them, stripped them, took them to the ground under the olive trees, something shattered.
The villagers heard it.
The strongest of them — Kaston, the hunter’s eldest, who once broke a bull’s neck with a single twist — was seen entering the grove at twilight. By midnight, his cries echoed across the valley. Not groans of pain, nor moans of pleasure, but high-pitched, desperate screams, fragile and unrecognizable. The kind of sounds boys never made — the kind only heard from terrified girls in stories told by firelight.
When he returned at dawn, he could barely walk. He had no bruises. No wounds. But his legs buckled when he saw her the next day, and he lowered his head like a colt before its master. He never touched another woman again.
This became the pattern. The bigger they were, the louder they broke. Boys with thick arms and calloused hands cried into her neck like children, clutching her thighs, begging for air, for mercy, for more. And Athena never mocked them. She held them as they trembled. She whispered nothing. She let their souls dissolve and reform around her body, around her breath.
And so, boy after boy, the village was emptied of its sons — not physically, but spiritually. They returned home… changed. Their mothers didn’t know how to speak to them. Their sisters watched them with confusion. They no longer shouted or fought. They moved like they were remembering something sacred.
The girls of Thalyria began to feel it too — not jealousy, but something stranger. They started to come near the grove, lingering at its edge, hoping to catch a glimpse of what happened under the olives. Some of them began to dream of her. Others started to follow her movements, copy her stance, her walk, the way she looked through people.
And still, Athena said nothing. She gave no speeches. She offered no explanations. She only received.
Because deep down, she felt it now — like a tide turning beneath her skin.
She was no longer waiting to be taken.
She was becoming what the world would one day kneel before.

By the time the leaves had turned bronze and the nights grew heavy with the scent of figs and ash, Athena no longer waited for the village to send boys to her — they came of their own will. But now, it was no longer only boys.
This afternoon, she sat on the old stone bench under the shade of the forest’s edge, not far from the olive grove that had become her temple. She wore a simple, dusty linen shirt that clung to her sculpted chest, lifted just high enough to reveal the flawless stonework of her abs. Her legs were spread, grounded, powerful — the thighs of a lioness in repose. The leather of her short skirt brushed against sun-baked skin, and her braid lay loose across her shoulder like a line of gold.
Three of them encircled her — two young men and, for the first time, a girl. They hovered around her body like acolytes around a flame. One ran his fingers along her abdomen, tracing the ridges of her musculature with a mix of curiosity and reverence. The second boy leaned close, lips parted, his breath soft against her side. And the girl — flame-haired, flushed, fearless — whispered something directly into Athena’s ear, her hand resting possessively on her thigh.
Athena didn’t move. She didn’t need to. She was utterly still, yet completely in control. Her half-smile suggested permission, not submission — a silent invitation that had already been accepted. She didn’t look at them; she looked through them, as if sensing something else beyond this moment, some deeper tide pulling at the edges of her thoughts.
This was no longer seduction. It was devotion. Her body had become a shrine — not just to desire, but to something larger. Power. Becoming. Destiny.
Those who came to her did not simply seek pleasure.
They came to surrender.
And now, even the women of Thalyria were beginning to hear the call.

She stood for a long while, watching them work: muscles straining, backs bent, sweat dripping into the dirt. No one approached her. No one dared.
Then she stepped forward.
A beam, long and heavy, lay on the ground, needing six men to move it — a task that would take the better part of the morning. Athena didn’t wait. She squatted, braced, and lifted it alone, letting the weight rest cleanly across her shoulders like it was nothing more than a scarf.
Gasps echoed across the courtyard.
Two men ran to steady the ends, instinctively, but their arms were useless — the entire weight sat balanced on Athena’s powerful frame. Her thighs flexed, her torso rigid, the lines of her abdominals carved in the morning sun. She walked slowly through the workshop like a goddess through a temple, the beam carried not with effort but with purpose.
From that day on, she became part of the village’s work.
She carried what others could not.
She repaired what others left broken.
She hauled stones, uprooted trees, replaced oxen.
She became muscle, structure, motion. Foundational.
Men no longer feared being overshadowed by her strength. They relied on it. When they could not lift, she did. When their backs broke, hers did not. When storms came and roofs collapsed, it was Athena who stood in the rubble, supporting beams with bare arms until others could repair them.
And through all this, she never boasted. Never demanded anything.
She simply acted.
What once was awe became trust.
What once was lust became loyalty.
She was no longer the girl who hadn’t been taken.
She was now the woman they couldn’t live without.

The beast had broken loose during a livestock fair at the edge of Thalyria, where neighboring villages gathered once a year to barter, boast, and compete. The ox was not just large — it was monstrous, bred for pulling stone carts through dry earth and carrying logs down from the mountains. When its tether snapped and it charged into the crowd, men screamed, women ran, and children scattered like birds.
But Athena walked into its path.
Barefoot, sleeveless, her arms glistening with the heat of midday, she met the beast with nothing but her stance — legs grounded, chest open, braids whipping over her shoulder. The ox roared and lunged. She caught it by the horns.
The ground shook.
Spectators froze as the clash unfolded — not of equals, but of myth meeting flesh. She twisted, grounded, roared from deep within herself. Dust rose around them in a storm of limbs and breath. Then, with a final pivot of her hips and a raw cry that echoed off the cliffs, Athena drove the beast to the ground, pinning it with one knee as it thrashed beneath her like a dragon held by chains.
The men who had failed to stop it stood in silence.
Some clutched their spears without lifting them.
Others knelt.
She released the animal gently, whispered something to it — no one heard what. Then she stood, her chest heaving, her teeth bared in something between laughter and rage. That moment was burned into every eye.
By dusk, her name had crossed three valleys.

The messenger from Nyros had arrived, breathless and bloodied, his message urgent: raiders, missing girls, a defiled temple. For a moment, Athena had felt the flame ignite in her — the old heat in her spine, the hum in her ribs that told her she was meant for more than water jars and stone paths. But then… doubt. A strange hesitation that surprised even her.
She was powerful. She was worshipped. She had carried oxen, broken beams, taken men and boys to places inside themselves they never knew existed. And yet, something in her chest whispered, “Not yet.”
She was still too young.
Too tied to this soil.
Still… becoming.
So, she stayed.
And when she stayed, she threw herself into every task as if trying to burn the energy out of her own bones. She hauled water for every home in the upper village. Not with buckets or wagons, but with immense amphorae slung over her shoulders, each one heavier than a full-grown man. She stood at the well each morning before the sun, waiting, silent, muscles coiled like ropes, filling jar after jar until the ground itself became slick with her sweat and the spilled offerings of her service.
In the courtyard near the fountain, she lifted a full amphora with one arm, the clay jug pressed high above her shoulder, her abdominals ridged like carved marble, the veins on her biceps pulsing like rivers. Women paused to watch her — not just for the spectacle, but because something inside them stirred when they saw her. Not jealousy. Not even awe. Recognition.
Athena said little. She didn’t smile unless it came naturally. But when she looked up — from under sun-bleached lashes, skin bronzed from months outdoors — people saw it. The truth. She wasn’t helping to please them. She was fighting something inside her.
She needed purpose.
She needed discipline, or else she feared the thing growing inside her — the vastness, the force, the rage she sometimes tasted at night — would burst forth too early, uncontrolled, misused.
So she worked.
She repaired a widow’s roof with her bare hands. She hoisted wounded animals from ravines. She calmed a feverish child by resting her hand on his chest until he fell asleep. And still, it wasn’t enough.
Something larger stirred in the edges of her mind — visions, sometimes, during sleep. She would wake drenched in sweat, heart pounding. Dreams of deserts and columns, of fire and of blood. Of women riding like thunder across distant sands. Of drums. Of silence. Of a voice whispering her name in a language she didn’t yet know.
She would sit upright in the dark, pressing her fingers into the stone beneath her, whispering, “Not yet. I’m not ready. Not yet.”
But the world — the real one, the ancient one — was beginning to notice her.
And soon, it would come for her.
When it became clear that Athena was not going to be taken, the elders of Thalyria made a strange — perhaps desperate — decision:
they would train her to fight.
“She must learn to channel her strength,” they said. “She needs to know how to defend herself. And how to lose.”
And so, every evening, as the sun dipped behind the hills and the sky burned violet over the sea, the villagers gathered at the edge of the shore. A circle was formed in the sand, torches planted in the ground. Men of the village — young and old — came barefoot, shirtless, serious. The boys came too, eager, breathless. And Athena stepped into the ring.
At first, it was cautious, polite. She was strong, yes, but untrained. The men thought they might humble her, teach her limits.
But they were wrong.
The first week, she wrestled with restraint.
The second, she dominated.
By the third, she began to smile as she threw them to the sand — one after another.
Her body moved like flame wrapped in bronze. She grappled low, fast, relentless. She pinned men twice her weight. She twisted out of holds like a serpent, only to slam her opponents onto their backs, hard enough to knock the air from their lungs.
And as the days passed… she began to enjoy it.

The Beach fight
A man lies beneath her, his chest heaving, face grimy with sweat and dust. Athena straddles him, fists clenched, her muscles gleaming in the firelight. Her expression is wild — amused, victorious, alive. Around her, the other men sit cross-legged in silence, watching. Not judging. Not laughing. Only… accepting.
Because by now, they knew.
This was no training. No teaching.
This was transformation.
The village men had offered her combat — and in doing so, they’d revealed the truth to themselves:
They were no longer her equals. Not in body. Not in speed. Not even in will.
She beat them all. And she didn’t need to prove anything anymore. She was simply playing.
And as the torches flickered and the sea hissed nearby, one quiet truth settled over Thalyria like mist:
The men had stepped into the ring to guide her.
But instead…
they had crowned her. But peace was about to end.
There were rumors of war — distant, unclear, but persistent.
Whispers of rising armies beyond the eastern ridges. Kingdoms clashing. Cities falling. The king’s banners unfurled.
Soon, emissaries began arriving in Thalyria.
They came without ceremony, dressed in the dull bronze of marching soldiers, riding exhausted horses. Their mission was simple: to seize the strongest young men for the king’s campaign. No farewells. No negotiations. A name was called, and a boy vanished behind the crest of the hill, bound for war.
They walked the village with cold efficiency.
But every time they passed the olive grove — they slowed down.
For there, often seated on her stone wall or pacing barefoot in the dirt, stood Athena.
She rarely acknowledged them. She was busy — scouting, teasing, choosing. By now, her daily ritual was well known. Mornings were for strength. She trained in the fields, lifting amphorae by the handles, dragging ox-carts alone, bending iron into loops for her fingers. And in the afternoons, she prowled.
She’d walk through the village square like a lioness among sheep. Her eyes scanned the crowds until they found him — the one for the night. Sometimes it was a boy barely old enough to speak to her. Other times, it was a grown man, married, respected, nervous. It didn’t matter.
And when she chose, there was no discussion.
No one interferes.
No one resists.
She carries him like a harvest.
Her destination is always the same — the small stone house she still shares with her parents, though they long ago stopped asking questions. The small room in the back is hers now. Her altar. Her den.
The king’s emissaries noticed. They took note of her muscles, her posture, the way men followed her with downcast eyes.
But their orders were clear.
“Take the boys.”
“The king did not ask for women.”
And so they passed her.
Every time.
Pretending they did not see the future rising in her shadow.
