The Long Earth (the girl in the train)
🕑 Added 2021-11-27 14:00:05 +0000 UTCThis story was inspired to me from a book, or a serie of books started by 'the Long Earth' from Stephen Baxter. It was based on the stepper, a device to move to the next dimension just by doing one step.
"..because the stepper allowed the person using it to step sideways into another America, another Earth, and if you kept on stepping, you kept on entering even more Earths...this is the Long Earth. It's not simply our Earth but one of chain of parallel worlds, lying side by side each differing from its neighbour by really very little (or actually quite a lot). It's an infinite chain, offering 'steppers' an infinite landscape of infinite possibilities. And the further away you travel, the stranger - and sometimes more dangerous - the Earths get. The sun and moon nearly always shine, the basic laws of physics are the same. However, the chance events which have shaped our particular Earth, such as the dinosaur-killer asteroid impact, might not have happened and things may well have turned out rather differently."
I strongly recommend to read this if you like Sci-fi and parallel world stories, and at least the first two books.
So here we are with Jacob, starting his new job in Detroit and using the local subway for the first time. That's where he sees an amazing woman, looking literally like not being from this Earth (and indeed she is not), wearing a sort of sci-fi ultra erotic outfit (which is in fact a protective equipment to avoid psychological issues during the "steps" or "jumps") came in.
She will embarked poor Jacob in a second Earth, populated only by a couple of millions people, organised as a gynocracy...
Enjoy :-)
