What's Next - Development Update
🕑 Added 2023-11-05 12:10:07 +0000 UTCIt's about time we released a new update on the project! We haven't really had much to say lately, due to a bunch of vacations lining up at around the same time, and everyone being busy working on making sure all the bugs that you've helped us find get squashed.
Lately our focus has been on re-evaluating the core experience of My Lust Wish. We want to create an erotic roleplaying game with an emphasis on Ashley's journey towards a more sexually liberated version of herself. And looking up on some of the mechanics we have planned out, we have come to the conclusion that if they are not pruned, we will be stuck making this game and putting out fires for the foreseeable future.
We don't want My Lust Wish to be a game stuck in a perpetual loop of Patreon/Early Access like some other titles. We want to finish the game, and we want it to be the very best it can possibly be, taking into account our team size and resources.
For this reason, we have decided to give up some of the more sim-like aspects of the game, as we feel they don't necessarily bring more value to the game, and are instead a hassle to manage. The biggest of these offenders are the various survival needs Ashley is saddled with, forcing the player to spend time taking care of things that we feel are not integral to our goals.
Another constant problem for us has been the game's world of Creamy Ridge. The original idea was to create an entire town to investigate and explore, but the truth of the matter is that performance issues and lack of content make the size we had in mind very problematic. Our attempts to fix it resulted in various other performance issues. In order to rectify this, we need to prune back the city considerably and make it more closed. This also solves the problem of traversal, which required considerable time from the player's part to get from one location to another.
Ashley's inventory has also been a problem. Having to play inventory Tetris in a game that's mainly focused around sexual content is counterproductive. Shuffling clothes, various foodstuffs, and quest items takes time off from the actually important things. For this reason we're reworking Ashley's inventory system to be a simpler affair, while still allowing for easy swapping of clothes.
One more important change is the addition of a sandbox mode, allowing the player easy access to the various scenes and poses.
