Rumors of Workstations
🕑 Added 2023-03-17 18:16:40 +0000 UTCDo not let thy eyes deceive you, my dear laboratory fans. These are a hint of something much greater. These humble tables are the testing ground for the workstation library I'm building.
It's coming along well, and if done successfully, will unleash workstations to the wild. Anyone who wants to add a workstation rather than use a grid recipe or existing system will be able to do so by adding their own custom workstation.
These workstations will be able to be definable to a remarkable degree. The most tedious aspect would be assigning the transforms for things that go on them.
Blessedly, these workstations will require "no actual code" for users to implement. All you need to do is define their properties in the blockType of your new workStation, and you'll be ready to take over the world.
ToolModes will also be receiving a similar treatment. For "basic" tools that don't use advanced techniques (Such as the axe and its tree felling behavior), you'll be able to assign custom toolModes (and images) through a collectibleBehavior by just adding a property or two.
The result? Add a model, add an itemType, assign a collectibleBehavior, and give a workstation that uses that toolMode, and you're off to the races.
This thing is looking amazing... I have high hopes.
