Today, that looks like coming home, flopping onto the couch, and letting my cat absorb my bad energy like it’s her full-time job.
If you’ve ever spent time with Kitty, you know she has this uncanny ability to sense when I’m not okay. On my good days, she’s politely indifferent. On my bad days? Suddenly she’s glued to me like a tiny, judgment-free therapist in fur form.
Today was a rougher day than usual. The kind that leaves you feeling a little hollow and extra tender. I came home, didn’t say a word, and she immediately climbed onto me in her very specific “this is happening whether you like it or not” kitty way. And somehow… it worked. The heaviness softened. I laughed. I breathed again.
To my fellow hopeless romantics:
today, I hope you show yourself a little love — not by chasing something grand or missing what isn’t there, but by noticing what you already have in abundance. The everyday. The small comforts. The quiet magic that shows up for you when you least expect it.
And if you’re lucky enough to have someone (or some tiny creature of the night) who knows how to hold you without words... tell them a little thank you from me for taking care of you. Even if they respond by walking away five minutes later.
Today, I’m thankful for Kitty. 🐾
And for the reminder that love doesn’t always look the way we imagine — sometimes it purrs.
