Now ain’t it curious, that my mind was willingly going along with the most absurd fantastical sexual stereotypes, as long as I enjoyed the ride, but then all of a sudden resisted the notion of even the most fantastical version of a subservient woman enjoying “cooking, cleaning and dusting” as those “all fill her with a joy, that almost matches sex.” - Stretching my imagination too far always breaks the spell! - I’m pretty sure that this rubbed me the wrong way already when watching “I’m dreaming of Jeannie” when I was younger. - Even though I know it’s meant to be kind of ironic play with gender roles / “eyes winking”, but I’m not far enough removed / free enough from those roles to not feel the sting that the person fitted too tightly in a role would feel. That being said: When I’m watching “YMCA” by the Village People, even I have to laugh... - although that might be because they are depicting male roles, which I feel easier to laugh about, as that is my own role. I have the right to laugh about those. I don’t have the right to laugh about “Jeannie” and the one from this audio...
