Some updates...
🕑 Added 2025-03-20 11:56:15 +0000 UTCWhen I started the Patreon my plan (and expectation) was a slow build over the final year of my PhD. Test out the platform, see what interest there might be, get proof of concept to see how much investment it was etc. Then Arcane happened, and I never ever thought there would be so much interest in what I have to say, and the Patreon has grown far quicker than I expected! That led to a very quick learning process of what works, what doesn't work and what people actually expect in terms of quantity and quality of content (and balancing that). It has been challenging, but I have embraced that challenge and hopefully provided something that has been worth your investment.
I wanted to share some big steps that I have taken this week. An actual version 1.0 of Randall's Model of Trauma-Informed Practice has been established. I need to work hard and focus over the next 10 days as my supervisory team are expecting a lot by the end of March. Content on Patreon will continue as usual. Once that initial draft has been submitted I will then have some more patreon time whilst the team takes their time to read through about 70,000 words of my work. Then when the feedback comes back it will be busy time again for a bit whilst I make amendments. My overall aim is to nearly be finished by about May / June (so a few months) and once we are there I will have so much more time to dedicate to Patreon.
To be clear, none of this will impact my current stream schedule and upload schedule. I say this to contextualise where I am at, and if I appear tired, if I appear a little abrupt with people or I don't get back to people as quickly as usual, then it isn't personal - I just have other things going on.
I can also see the inevitable max exodus of people leaving since I have uploaded the reaction to the final episode of Arcane. I just want to take this opportunity (before your sub runs out) to say thank you for being a part of this. It really has been incredible to collaborate, learn and view so many different perspectives that I am potentially blindsided to. I would ask that you check out the Patreon again in the future.
PS. I know that the image for my model is blurred. That is intentional. I'm not allowed to share it fully, especially as it is still being developed. Unfortunately there have been recent cases of PhD students sharing developing work only for larger research teams to get hold of it, reverse engineering it and then publishing it first as their own which then means the thesis can't be submitted as it is not original contribution.

I found you via your reactions to Ren, and from there your reaction to the Line music video is what got me into Arcane. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching you reactions and analysis of that (incredible) show, and your other reactions (looking forward to TLOU!) I love how wiling you are to feel and show emotions, and talk about how 'this is what sad looks like' , or to show yourself having to regulate, or even demonstrate how your brain kinda goes offline a bit while regulating - it helps me so much as a low empathy Autistic person to be able to watch and have the explanation and see it all in real time.

I also came for Arcane because I'm passionate about it haha, but tbh I was surprised and delighted by how good your reactions are, I had to watch the series a couple of times to notice things you noticed the first time you watched it! I stayed because of your charisma and your way of seeing things (which is what invited me to pay for the Patreon). I might not be around for a few months because I don't think I can afford it every month but I'll be here as much as I can! Thanks for everything and good luck with the PhD!

Like many others here, I came for Arcane. I wasn't expecting so much content, but I'm not complaining. I appreciate your opinions and professional perspective, and it's impressive how you instantly see connections, where I've had to watch the show several times. Arcane will end and other things will hopefully come. Some topics I will be interested in, others I won't. But I have no intention to leave this channel soon, even if there is less content. I have learned a lot here and received good recommendations from you and also from the community. Enough praise for now ;-) Take all the time you need for family, study and work. No need to overdo it with Patreon.

I came for Arcane, but you have a really unique reaction style (which I like very much) so I am planning to stay a while longer. I am looking forward to the Arcane analysis and I am hoping for some The Last of Us reactions in the coming weeks :D

Hey, thanks for the update. It's totally fair if you need to take a step back from the Patreon for a little while and focus on your PhD. Personally, I'd rather quality content than frequent content, and if you do too much you might burn out. Make sure you focus on yourself!

i dont know about anyone els but for me i think you do so much for this community and for that i am grateful...i also think you need to take more time to do you phd (of which im prowd of how far youv come on it) and have family time and have some time for yourself which you need. pluss you did a silly thing and now your stuck with me (im a bit like chewing gum ill get stuck in you heart lol) so try not to worry too much on the numbers the loyal of us will weight as long as needed.
