Pikmin 2 4K (HD Texture Pack) 1.3.0 Patreon Release Download
🕑 Added 2020-08-26 17:03:23 +0000 UTCHi all Patrons!
I'm happy to announce that the obligatory 1.3.0 "4K" update for Pikmin 2 HD is finally here! This update includes many of the same changes made in Pikmin 4K 1.0.7 which released last week and just like that one this is the largest update to the texture pack ever, and with it comes many changes and new features.
This update includes new 4K versions of all the previously updated textures, includes nearly 200 new textures, and also updates some previous ones from the previous releases. New textures include primarily HUD and UI textures. Furthermore, the installation has been simplified and no longer requires almost any manual setup from the user at all on Windows. Simply click "Pikmin 4K.exe" and play!
Shaders have been added to provide new visual enhancements like Rim Lighting, Ambient Occlusion, Global Illumination, Tesselation, Material Maps, Depth of Field and much more. It truly makes the game look better than ever seen before! These shaders are enabled by default on Windows, no need to install them manually anymore!
There is now also a Resource Pack version of the texture pack which can easily be installed into regular Dolphin and works for MacOS and Linux users. The texture pack should also work on Android, however I've not tested it on Android myself yet.
European / PAL support has been added as well! This includes some of the cheat codes and most visual enhancements. I'm working on support for the Japanese version as well however that's not quite ready yet.
The texture pack now uses the DDS BC7 format by default, which dramatically improves load times and reduces file size without any loss in quality on any of the textures.
The textures are now mip-mapped by default which reduces the ugly "flickering" of high resolution textures in the distance.
Environment Maps have been added, which improves the realism of the lighting!
And if that's not enough; the texture pack now supports the Wii version "New Play Control" edition of Pikmin 2! Both the European and American versions are supported and natively supports the widescreen format (no need for hacks to get widescreen!) The 60 FPS patch is exclusive to the NTSC GameCube version, however.
Installation:
On Windows; Simply extract the .ZIP file somewhere on your computer and start the game using the provided custom version of the Dolphin Emulator (named as "Pikmin 2 4K.exe"). All settings should be preset to my optimal settings, but you are of course free to tweak them so the game looks however you prefer! MacOS, Android and Linux have their own installation guides provided in the download link.
You MUST provide your own .iso ROM file of Pikmin 2, it is not distributed here. Let me know if you experience any bugs or issues!
The 4K version of the texture pack is available to all you Patrons starting today, with a 1080p version available to everyone for free on my website in two weeks from when this post was published! Like always, beware before downloading it since it's a large file, over 3GB!
Enjoy!
(Only available through the use of an emulator, the texture pack does not work on real GameCube or Wii consoles).
You can find more information about my HD texture pack here.
You can find the download here!
I am only able to create things like this thanks to your support, so from the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping me do what I love!

Disable the 60 FPS patch in the AR Codes tab temporarily until you’ve completed the first day (the tutorial)!
When I try booting the game for the first time the save slot menu icons are far off-screen, Olimar and Louie are flying outside the spaceship in the opening cutscene, and afterward, the screen remains black with sounds in the background. This happens with both the 1080 and 4k pack.
