DID Games May Update

Hey everyone, I hope you’re all doing well. Easter has come and gone, and so has the incessant flood of bunny girl pictures in everyone’s timelines.
April has been a rather turbulent month for the team – a lot of us have had some pretty important and unforeseen personal events, leading to us not being as active or communicative as we would have wanted to be. As such, I wanted to take the time today to write a few words on how everything’s going on our side.
Didnapper 2
Unfortunately, development on D2’s update has been slower than expected. This is due to the ever-looming reality that we’re all working on this project as a part-time activity, and that our individual lives are liable at any point to force us away from the project. Extra unfortunate, however, is that this happened to our 3 lead developers more or less simultaneously, resulting in an extremely unproductive period of time.
Additionally, to add insult to injury, we also encountered a technical issue that caused us to lose a lot of our files for the upcoming update. We’ve since thankfully managed to recover them, but it has nevertheless thrown a pretty large wrench in our plans.
We hope you can understand the delay in development.
Regardless, we are looking to resume our regular pace starting in May, as we continue writing and implementing the new content planned for the next update. As a reminder, this update will add many side quests, world events, and outfits.
Concerning the mod manager, the first version of it is now complete, and the team is working on implementing it. It will be released included in the upcoming 1.1 update alongside the rest of the side content.
And after?
We get this question a lot, and we ourselves think about it a lot as well.
First, and this goes without saying, but we are committed to releasing all the content we promised. In practice, this means the upcoming update, followed by the “Truth” expansion.
Beyond this, no specific plans have been set in stone yet, just a few loose ideas. We are however definitely interested in working on new projects, although probably smaller in scale. Didnapper 2 was a massive undertaking, and while it was an extremely rewarding experience, it was also quite intense. We’re also considering collaborating with other game developers or artists and helping support their projects, although this is something we’ve yet to put into practice.
Merch? Giveaway? What?
We’ve had a handful of fans ask us about merch, maybe jokingly, maybe not. Regardless, this is something we might consider, provided there’s enough proper interest in it. As such, we’ve prepared a short poll we’d like you all to take a few minutes to fill out to properly gauge interest in potential merch.
