Yeah the scent of upcoming rain is common thing on a tropical island. Even more noticeable with asphalt and concrete. It's basically aerosolized dust from raindrops hitting the hot ground. I heard it's also common in some arid places, as a way humans evolved to find sources of fresh water

From Southwest Missouri, but Blue is right about being able to smell/feel rain coming! It would be interesting to see if there are people who can sense if like snow or other types of weather are coming.
