True, but I would say it's not the common way of pronouncing the name of the instrument. I've heard multiple stories of the names origin and meaning; some say it means jumping flea, others say it translates to "a gift that came" since it was originally brought to Hawaii by Portuguese migrants.
sort of, since the ukulele is tuned up a forth from the guitar, you can place a capo on the 5th fret and only strum on the D, G, B, an E strings, which will now produce the notes C,G,E,A.

Pronounced ukulele with emphasis on the uuuu....as in ewww that milk is bad ! Uku as in flea. At least in Hawaii das how pronounced...
