Yes, you can definitely apply this concept of walking bass notes to other tunes. Just one more way of embellishing and adding your own twist to an arrangement.
The chords with the solo notes added make this song sound extremely professional. Once this song style is learned, then I imagine it would be easier to add notes while playing chords on other songs.
