Love watching your reactions. This show meant so much to me in middle school, as I found it after being outed to my whole grade. Seeing queer relationships take a role as something normal and not taboo in the She-Ra universe brought me, and so many other queer kids, a lot of comfort. It's rare to see queer people in media be the leads of a story that does not revolve around their queerness. Excited to see you watch the next few seasons!

My favorite nuance of the conflict between Catra and Adora is the fact that Catra has always known that the Hoard is evil, in part because she’s been mistreated her whole life. Part of the hurt that exists there and that keeps building up is that Catra’s mistreatment wasn’t enough to get Adora to leave. She left for strangers. She left Catra behind for it. And of course it’s not really Adora’s fault that she didn’t pick up on how bad Catra had it, she was a kid. Keeping an eye on Catra was her burden as a child in a sense. She was raised to view Catra as a problem, even if she never consciously or personally believed in that. She was never equipped yo recognize the abuse that Catra was being put through. That was normalized with everything else. It’s only now that much of the larger things are coming to light for her that she can really start to process some of these things, and even then. Not only does she have a lot of her own traumas to work through still, but for Catra it must feel like too little too late. Adora’s already proven she’s willing to abandon her. It’s so layered and complex and it’s what I love the most about this show.

Adora: "Let go of what?" Camera slides to the side and shows Catra step out from behind the pillar over her shoulder. Also love how this shows that Catra was never protected, even though Adora was trying and felt like she was. And Adora can't be blamed here, she's just a little kid, and that protection was never something a little child could be expected to provide. The Promise as a title and then seeing how that promise was broken, and how adult Catra saying it at the same time shows how large that moment looms in her memory, just really well done.
