Might i suggest that when things get out of hand you just write massive chapters? *wink wink*

Kea doesn't get to learn Mana Sense until she loudly proclaims Kai is super cool and awesome and her favorite brother.

I liked how it got out of hand. I feel it mimicks well how it feels for Kai: Alchemy starts as a placeholder activity while waiting for caster training, but he ends up enjoying it for its own sake. The same thing happened to me IRL.

Thanks for the comment. It did indeed got a bit out of hand, but I wanted to give a little more details about how Alchemy and mana abilities worked. So that when I write “…and Kai did Alchemy…” people will have a more clear idea of what to imagine and not just a blank.

I'm really enjoying this story, I like how the skills don't just progress meaninglessly like in some books. I also adore the family dynamics. However, as a note for the future, I think that perhaps the alchemy marathon sprint got a bit too much attention. It's written like a mini-arc, composing 5/40 of the chapters in the book so far, but the interaction doesn't seem super important from a plot perspective. Please don't mistake me - I did enjoy those chapters - I just wanted to provide feedback for a book I enjoyed.

While it’s true any skill can potentially evolve into something amazing. Not everything has the same chances. And since Kai right now pursues Alchemy/Mana Skills, a physical skill like Running, which is also not very flexible, will probably not be part of his main arsenal. And I felt a reliable mana boost could not mess things up even if in the future he finds more use for the skill. I only show about 70% of the rules and world building on the page to not kill the pace. The rest stays in my head and notes. Some I plan to explain in the future, other things can be deducted by the elements I show, others again will probably never be revealed fully. The problem with publishing chapter by chapter is that some questions will become clear and be answered in a few more chapters (sometime a bit further in the future), however readers only have what I publish, so I understand they might find some apparent contradictions or plot holes since they don’t have the complete information. Trust that I have it handled - most of the time anyway ; ). But always point out if something doesn’t feel right. Thanks for the comment.

Thank you, it cleared up some things. And not to put too much on you as I just want to clarify my feedback, I didn't understand that Running wasn't an important Skill. Given the context as it was simply a 'Red' skill in my mind, much like Meditation is a 'Red' Skill. How I thought about this was much in the mind set of "Keen Eyes" where it evolved into "Inspect." An unassuming Skill that turning into something profound, as it transformed into another Orange Rank. This combined with {Deepen Your Insight} as the evolutionary text prompt made me assume that everything had notable potential to evolve into something more profound with more insights. Along with the assumption that because of how weak and early it is in the process, being at the "Red" Stage, it is "easier" to manage these jumps to a higher Stage, or Orange. Again thank your for the clarification, continue with the good work.

There are two reasons: 1. Running is not an important skill. If it were any of his Orange skills or even Meditation or the red alchemy related skills you’d be right. Skill like Running and Swimming are pretty basic and not fundamental to his future path. 2. There are very few possible ways to evolve Running. Unlike other skill like Meditation or his Orange skills, there are not as many path you can go down. This is how most people sometimes obtain mana related evolution randomly. They apply their mana to basic physical skills unconsciously and then obtain a mana evolution. Kai only did it consciously. Still, I can understand how this may clash with the initial part of the chapter. I was trying to keep up the pace, but maybe I should have not put them back to back. Thanks for the comment. P.s. I added two small paragraphs that will hopefully show this is not an impulsive decision that will affect his future negatively.

I don't normally comment but am I missing something here? This chapter seems like an encompassing lesson, as Kai, for as much as he is "older" is still a child based on his naivety and shown lack of experience in this world. His mother promptly chastises his head strong attitude, greed, and poor perceptions of what he thinks is manageable when making a deal with others. It feels like a good lesson, a good reminder between the intensity of his training regiment, a little hiccup here to prevent a harsher lesson later. Great, beautifully executed. But... everything seems to get put into question again when his Running Skill hits Lvl 75. Virya clearly warned him about variants, there wasn't even a moment of hesitation, he just went for it. Which as she said, could lock doors to him in the future. Why do this? Why not just wait and ask about what he should pick? Coming off the back of such a lesson about seeking council and wisdom before going head strong into problems that are promptly, and probably well explored by people with more experience, especially with a Skill like Running. It feels like either he just doesn't care for his mother's words or he had a moment of personal grown and then promptly forgot about it because of the "cool" skill. To which makes me think had the character had any growth at all as it muddled the theme that I felt this chapter was working with. If there is anything that I'm just not getting, or a prompt by his teachers to take the variant before I would like to know as to change my view on his decision. Thank you.
