Bloomed works, too. The whisper is new, he didnt know the danger was exactly there, so its fresh and "bloomed". Loomed if he was talking about the general danger, the basilisk loomed somewhere in the distance. The basilisk wouldnt bloom, it would loom, but a sense of danger can bloom.

"A whisper of danger bloomed in the distance" Replace "bloomed" with "loomed" "his fingers closed in on the cold glass." Repeating what is said in first half of sentence with little added, making second half of sentence redundant. Change to "his fingers clasping the cold glass" to show continuity of actions "Once he drank it, he would be on a timer." Change to "Once drunk, he'd be on a timer." "before the effects run out" Replace "run" with "ran" "eaten or by failing his quest." Replace "by" with "from" "To pierce the basilisk’s camouflage, he needed to focus his skill on a specific spot at the detriment of everything else." Change to "Piercing the basilisk's camouflage required focusing the skill over a specific spot to the detriment of his general awareness." "The odds of picking the exact place over hundreds of meters of tunnels weren’t high." Replace "high" with "good" or "comforting" or "reassuring" (Rather than just saying what the likelihood is, use this to show how the low probabilities are affecting Kai) "Where has that damned lizard gone" Replace "damned" with "damn" "King had come close to crunching his skull" Replace "crunching" with "crushing" "The basilisk was [x] a beast." Insert "just" at x "If it didn’t commit mistakes, it wouldn’t have been blinded and crippled by Makyn." Change to "If it couldn't commit mistakes, it never would have been blinded and crippled by Makyn." "The admittedly brilliant idea that made his plan not a complete suicide was simple." Change to "The admittedly brilliant idea that prevented his plan from being complete suicide was simple." "Hallowed Intuition’s warnings made no difference if they couldn’t escape or fight back. So they would create a way." Change to "Hallowed Intuition’s warnings wouldn't make a difference if they weren't able to escape or fight back. So they needed to create a way." "traced his finger on the cold" Replace "on" with "over" "reaching it would require" Replace "would require" with "required" "a five-minutes detour." Replace "minutes" with "minute" "The passage was [x] large enough" Insert "barely" "for a human to squeeze through on the side," and no more" Change to " for a human side-on to squeeze through." "In any other place in the" Change to "Anywhere else in the" "but here had a chance." Change to "but here they stood a chance" "mercilessly if he weren’t risking" Replace "weren't" with "wasn't" "Such a waste of an" Change to "Such a wasted" "basilisk doesn’t sneak [x] on us." Insert "up" at x “and didn’t stop before they passed five more” Replace “before” with “until” “If they ran the stone would crash on the floor.” Comma after “ran” “the source, same as [x] human beings” Insert “with” at x “The slab flew [x] powered by his magic and Strength.” Insert “through the air” “out a light crystal not to trip.” Replace “not to” with “to not” “he had to close this before the” Replace “close” with “finish” or “end” “Kai shouted at the empty room” Replace “at” with “into” “switched direction towards him.” Change to “switched directions, [x] towards him” Insert “barrelling” or “sprinting” or “bolting” at x “three more to his planned spot.” Replace “spot” with “location” “trying to get his trail.” Replace “get” with “find” or “gather” “for the King to get bored” Replace “get bored” with “lose interest” “When it failed to find any clue” Replace “any clue” with “any clues” or “a single clue” “and it moved with a slow sprint.” Replace “and” with “as” “through the water into his waiting hands.” Using “water” is very generic and not very descriptive, possibly change to something else that better describes the spell, maybe “stream” or “flood”? “In the dark, it was a smooth multifaceted object, long as his forearm.” Sentence doesn’t flow from the “In the dark” section with the “it was a smooth multifaceted object” Change to “In the dark, he could feel a smooth multifaceted object, long as his forearm” “droplets and wind to brush his hair,” Using specific term of water alongside generic term of air. Recommend a more specific term for “wind”. Change to “droplets and a light breeze to brush his hair,” “he connected [x] to his spatial” Insert “it” at x “currents of mana starting from its shiny surface.” Replace “starting” with “originating” or maybe? “departing”

In the grim darkness of the future there is only war; as Kai battles hordes of yellow-tier beasts? Not sure our boy can handle that

I love your story, thank you for work! While retelling the story so far to my girlfriend, I remembered the mayor, that abandoned everyone when Kai was relocated. did Kai also forget? Wouldn’t he want to tale some kind of revenge? I know I would :D

IgnisPrimus

I hope not.

Nurgle

Something tells me Book 4 is going to be completely about the Sanctuary . I doubt it’ll be a short affair tbh
