Question about voting pools

Hey everyone! I've been thinking about the size of voting pools and the pros and cons of where it's at. Currently I have 12 selections that you can vote from each month, but I feel there are often candidates that don't get meaningful amount of votes/attention
My question to ya'll: Would you like to see me shrink the pool size to 4 or so?
Pro: Selected candidates will have more focused voting, leading to a more meaningful choice when voting
Con: There will be less variety to vote, and it will make the suggestions section harder to get any character in
I could also take to a more curated selection according to my judgement, but this will also weaken suggestions as it will introduce my own personal bias. There's also the possibility that I could change the whole paradigm to a more request focused system rather than a strict one character per month situation... I'll have more questions as the days go on as I want to provide a better fitting situation for everyone!

I've always held the view that you should draw what you want to draw and I'll support it! But that would be a pretty drastic change, so do whatever works for you!

A good number of people are suggesting 6, which I think is a fair number

12 sometimes feels like a lot, but 4 feels like it'll be too few. I think splitting it down the middle and trying 8 choices to get a feel for it makes sense.
