I don't know what the situation should be, but the thought of it being something mundane, where nothing significant happens sounds hilarious.

They escape from the pages of fiction and possess four fans in the "real world". Altering their bodies and slowly imposing their will onto them. As the four fans come together to try and purge them from their bodies. But in the end making it worse.
