I’m late but in general when Akiko (the slime) transforms people she turns them into complete copies of herself. They retain their memories but their personality definitely shifts to uh, match hers. Sometimes faster for some than others.

No, as in, she was eaten from the inside out or melted and repurposed by some sort of malicious slime creature. The slime has nothing which even hints at them being the same person, so it really looks like she was just used as fuel for the slime.
