Dead Winter Minicomics Batch #39
🕑 Added 2021-09-05 04:03:17 +0000 UTCSo funny story about this week's minibatch: I've actually burned through my entire buffer just as I got to the last week of this project. It worked out well, starting out with a 20-strip buffer meant I could post these without worrying too much about them during this month's work crunch. I'm actually over the fire now until I get strip 100 done- I just finished this one now and it's going up for a Discord server preview on Monday. I updated the main comic on Friday but I did want to share this one with you before it gets posted live; this does mean strip 100 is going to be a secret until it goes up, but I can also post it here for completion's sake once it's drawn. I think I'll do that, actually. But for now, here's this one:
#099: This is more or less the last page to feature characters who haven't been in the minis yet, so I decided to center Dale and Chantelle, a fun mix. Arm wrestling is a recurring theme in Dead Winter itself so I wanted to feature it here- you can infer a fair bit of information from the bracket in the second panel. Chantelle doesn't know about the Mets boys energy so she unwittingly tapped into a wellspring of power. Dale is strong but the big question is: can he win out against Stacy or her protege? You'll have to imagine how that pans out yourself.
I've been thinking about how I'd like to close out this run of minicomics and I think I have a pretty good idea. I'm gonna focus on getting that drawn quickly so Thursday doesn't roll around without me having this capstone prepared. I'll share it on here so everyone can preview all 100 minis and to cap this run of articles off with an even 40 batches. Until then, have a peaceful weekend!

If Lizzie gets a full night's sleep before the match (see #75), I pity her opponent. And the bystanders. And the building. And the neighbors. Also, it looks like Liz beat out Lou, and Dale beat out Pat. No surprise on both counts.
