Comic Report #78.1 - The Boys
🕑 Added 2021-04-16 21:18:40 +0000 UTCHello again! I've got a lot of progress done on this page, I expect I should be able to have it finished up this weekend. I had my first COVID-19 vaccination yesterday so I got a little bit of that weird-feeling brain today, but I'll do my best to deliver an enjoyable write-up for you.
I'd been spoiled a bit by so many pages of indoor shots, now I have to pay my dues and paint an exterior looking-down-the-street shot for one page before I can draw indoor shots again. The two challenging panels to paint are panels 1 and 5, where I'll have to be carefully referencing my town layout sheet to remember which buildings are where and in what order. I could probably get away with just blocking in whatever buildings, but I do want the world to be consistent so I'll always go to the effort. I do need to make the sky brighter, but that's a tomorrow problem.
One of the other major headaches I've set up for myself on this page is drawing in a crowd. I have a bunch of goons plotted out who hang out with the Gravekeepers:
So I have references for them planned already, I just need to dip back into one more crowd scene before I can move on. In my first-pass block-in phase I just let them be a blob of grey, since it slows me down too much to fuss with these kinds of details at this phase of the page.
There was something else I wanted to post about but I'm having trouble remembering at the moment. I'll leave this post somewhat short for now and let my vaccine-headache brain remember what I wanted to say for when I post the final piece sometime around, I'll say Mondayish.
