Discord Server Interest?
🕑 Added 2024-08-13 16:12:30 +0000 UTCAs this community grows I need better ways to interact with everyone, plus sharing information and resources, so a quick poll to gauge some interest in how you want this community to grow.
Who is interested in joining an Art of Drink Discord server? I've had people ask before, but now might be the time to do it. The Patreon chat system isn't great, but I know little about Discord, though setup isn't a problem. Patreon directly integrates with Discord, so it would make more sense to do it that way. Plus I can see benefits for future live streaming and questions.
I have plans to do some YouTube live streams for Q&A, and there are ways to link Discord so that Patreon members can ask questions, which will get pushed to the top, so there is a better chance of those questions getting answered in the live stream.
If you are interested in helping out with Discord, let me know.

Discord is a decent platform for chat, voice etc. you can also set up multiple channels within to post videos and other articles. It's easier to search and archive than most new users would appear to understand. It does look busy to new users but after a few tries it's a decent platform.

I agree. I've set up Discourse a couple of times for other topics, and I like the threads/archive/searchability, plus anyone can find info within the forum, which means I'm not repeating myself to new members. The only problem is that I find wrangling the many different ways to contact me difficult, as well as maintaining all the communication channels. Let's see how Discord works.

I don't really have a strong opinion here, but FWIW if you wanted a platform with more archivability and features (including chat), Communiteq offers affordable Discourse hosting that includes a Patreon plugin: https://www.communiteq.com/discoursehosting/pricing/ Unlike Discord it also lets you login with some existing accounts e.g. Google (i.e without having to create a new account for the service), which might make it easier/more transparent for people to join and participate.
