The "Suddenly Laquine" prompt that was a runner up on the Patreon vote has turned out to be far more than I could've imagined. It's now a 5-part novella that helped me do a lot of worldbuilding for the tubepunk world I'll need for "Safe as a Werewolf" (the winner of the vote) and a future novel. I'll post a more detailed explanation of my plans soon. It looks like I'll be generating a good deal of content while I move from the east coast to the west coast because I have lots of inspiration.
One small lapse in judgement throws Elara's life off balance, literally. Growing a giant horsecock is fine for were-anthro-horses and were-centaurs, but not so fine for a female bunny like her where every added inch of stallion flesh looks more ridiculous on her petite frame. The mynah outside Brintac's window was amusing itself by singing its own bizarre versions of local bird songs while adding sounds from the tavern across the street: clinking glasses, greetings in several different languages, and a cacophony of expletives.
It was making me smirk during the meditation I was doing while Brintac finished up with the patient ahead of me. The more I listened to this mynah's auditory repertoire, the more I felt like we were kindred spirits. Its rendition of a water droplet falling into a cup was easily one of the most beautiful sounds my long bunny ears had ever heard.
I was purposefully not listening in on Brintac's conversation with his patient, even though I could hear it clearly. Focusing on other sounds, like the mynah, was helping with that immensely.
This open room with thick black-stained bamboo pillars, deep red fabric, and dark woods was one of my favorite spaces for being still and calm. As my half-lidded gaze flowed across the driftwood affixed to Brintac's bamboo walls, I reflected on his Thursday meditation classes and how they'd changed my life for the better.
Other than the mynah's singing, I was feeling a bit down. My eyebrow, and the whole area above my left eye, was sore and swollen. I'd assumed it was just a simple cut before I went to bed, but it had swelled enough in the night that it was going to affect my work if I didn't get Brintac's help.
A tall dragon walked out of the back, her turquoise scales glittering in the beams of afternoon sunlight coming through the high windows. Her voluptuous shape, confident gait, and the bulge between her legs were familiar, but she was gone before I could place her.
Brintac quietly lumbered through the wine-colored curtains in the back despite his split bull hooves. In a word, he was vast. "Walk into a cabinet or something?" Brintac asked, looking at my wound.

He laughed and then sat cross-legged on the floor cushion in front of me. "A monthly occurrence, it seems."
"My parents thought putting me in martial arts classes would make me a less clumsy child. They were half-right. Now I walk into people's fists instead of cabinets."
He laughed. "I kissed the mat so much last time we sparred that it proposed to me afterwards. I'm surprised anyone can get a hit on you."

"Good, now, before I heal you, I have to ask you the usual boring questions," he said.
"No to all of them, except recently being in contact with a freshly were-cursed individual," I said.
"Oh?" he raised an eyebrow.

He had a good belly laugh. "I'm sure what you do upstairs is full of surprises."
"Actually, it's more like the surprises fill me." I winked.
"You better be careful. I may be old, but I know exactly what to do with little bunnies like you," he said.
"Now that's a bluff I have to call." I grinned.
"You wish." He patted me on the shoulder, his massive hand completely covering it.
"Oh, I've thought about it ever since I first started taking your classes, but I value our friendship the way it is, far too much to change it," I said, putting my hand atop his.
"Me too." He gave my shoulder a squeeze.
After squeezing his hand, I let go of it.
Taking his hand back, he took a deep breath and calmed himself. "Let's get you healed up so you can get on with the rest of your day."
"Good call, I should head upstairs soon," I said.
Putting the index and middle finger of his right hand on either side of my laceration, he said, "Okay, center yourself."
After taking a deep breath to deal with the pain of him pressing on my wound, I closed my eyes and focused on the the energy that suffused every bit of reality: a roiling chaos that felt like a buzzing growl buried deep in your chest, smelled like black pepper mixed with lightning, and sounded like a murder of crows roosting in river rapids.
Somehow, the magic we were pouring into my body was making my clit twitch and that was ruining my composure. I hoped he couldn't smell what was going on between my legs as he started casting his spell.

And Elara's can be mended.

When he took his hands away, I opened my eyes and reached into my pocket to pull out two five dranar pieces. Then I put them in his giant hand.
The striations in the obsidian coins caught the light from the window before he dropped them in the red drawstring pouch on the dark wooden table to his left.
I got up and put a hand on the side of his muzzle. "Till we meet again, cherished one," I said.
Covering my hand with his, he said, "May you find safety and joy in abundance."
Leaving through his back door, I turned right and went upstairs.

"Huh," he said.

"Ditto." I hugged him back.

I think it might be a genre name that I made up because I can find barely anything on it. Tubepunk is like steampunk, in that it focuses on a specific era of technological development and often has supernatural elements. Steampunk focuses on 19th-century societies dominated by historical or imagined steam-powered technology. Tubepunk is founded on technologies from the 1930s-60s when vacuum tubes were in heavy use. Elara's world has some constraints that have hampered technological development and it's been this way for a long time. More setting details will become clear as I write more in this universe.
