Inspiration is a funny thing. Instead of doing a Patreon short this month, I'm basically writing a novella. I'm going to be well over 30,000 words for this month by the time I post part 4. That's more than I've written any month, ever. I'm going to balance things out by having multiple tiny story ideas for you to vote on later in the month. The two winning stories will get written for next month's Patreon Short.
Why 4 parts? I wanted to do what was right for the story I'm telling instead of what was right for fitting into a certain word count. This story has an emotional arc not unlike parts of Core's Opportunity and I needed to give it enough room to breathe.
