How to Discuss Your Origins

There’s a good chance it was a crazy person related to me.
I will admit, having been one of the least impressive students ever to barely graduate from Sunnyside High School, it was a bit of a thrill to see myself described with the sterling accolade of “notable.”
I’ve said some pretty mean things about Sunnyside over the years. I feel bad about it. Partly because Sunnyside probably doesn’t deserve the abuse, and partly because I’m going to keep doing it.

There comes a point where no amount of civic pride is worth the hassle of explaining what the town is called and where it is located.

Well, that's how you do things back east.

As someone "from" Boyertown, PA but actually Perkiomenville, PA, which is ACTUALLY closer to Gilbertsville, PA I understand the desire to eliminate a round of "Where's that?" At some point I quit naming locations and said "Out in the sticks halfway between Philadelphia and Reading. Look at a map and you'll see Pottstown thereabouts." It was the nowhere that had a mall in this chain of nowheres.

In Texas, Outlook would not described as a town so much as a wide spot in the road.
