It turns out that a white ringer-T is one of the least flattering garments a man in questionable shape can wear. An unflattering shirt is bad enough without it also having your name on it in bright red letters.

No, never wear a white shirt. (a) emphasises paunch and (b) food stains. I do already have a BI shirt.
