How to Learn About Other People's Obscure Interests
🕑 Added 2022-05-09 14:30:00 +0000 UTCThe following aspects of this comic are true:
Ric did have a conversation with someone in which the other party brought up urban planning videos.
Ric did mention the conversation to me, and was shocked to find that Missy and I watch the same videos, and have very specific ideas about stroads and mixed-use zoning.
Here's the channel that got us started down this particular rabbit hole.
Lastly, while Ric found our watching videos about city planning odd, he did hold up compilations of bikini scenes from the Love Boat (Search for them yourself if you like) as an example of what normal people watch.

YouTube is now recommending me stroad videos even though the first - and only! - time I've heard the word was in this comic. what is happening.

I wonder, though, if they're that bad and they only have downsides, how did they come to be in the first place? Was it one of those "we have an idea for short-time cost savings and let's not ponder if they'll be any good on the long term" ideas?
