Chapter 8

Before she could leave, Pete sent her Miles’ number. ‘Take Miles with you, it’s about time you start being a proper Spider-mom.’
Grinning wide, she paused at the door and winked. ‘I’m going to make him call me Sensei.’
Jane chuckles and Pete groans. ‘And you call me a nerd?’
‘Takes on to know one.’
As she sauntered away, he turned a long, suffering sigh on his colleague, as if to say see what I have to deal with?
‘You two are adorable.’
‘You’re only saying that because you don’t know what she was doing under the desk…’
Her mood had done a complete one-eighty, going from staring at one’s mortality to having a new lease on life would do that. Even if her cackle was at his expense, he couldn’t help smiling at her.

Depends on how they're being misused. If they're 'proper villainous', Pete can just shut down their bodies remotely. They should probably read the fine print, eh? Great power etc etc

If it was done to get her to take time off, that makes sense. I can live with that. It just really seemed odd to me personally that he would want to get a whole spider-police force. Guess I got to hung up on that, but to me it just seemed like such a random turn. Again, the cleaning the pollution? Cool as hell, the medical nanites, cool, the cure he did being used to help Prof Xavier? Cool. It was just that part that made me double take at what I was reading.

I'm not sure how to answer that question, lol. You can't compare the Marvel universe to real life. This isn't militarising a police force verse civillians, this is doing so in a world where there are super villains, alien invasions, countless mutants and beings like Thanos and Galactus. I hate police overreach as much as the next guy, I'm not bullish enough to ignore extenuating circumstances though. I wouldn't ask a police officer to go bust a dangerous criminal without his or her gun - I wouldn't also begrudge them something more potent when the gun becomes insufficient. Mainly, it's the only way I can feasibly have Pete and Gwen go on holidays without making her feel terrible - that's the main reason for the inclusion. That and Pete's mindset of doing the most good for the most people with his work. Even in helping Riri he'll be solving some major pollution issues by clearing up the junk piles in the ocean and swallowing up dumps all over the world with his nanites... Pete is also not stupid enough to give out such tech without the ability to remotely deactive it.

I once commissioned Spidey/Sue so I'm pretty excited to read the upcoming Peter/Jane, that's not something I had seen before. Riri is a cool bonus, can't say I know much about her. Personally, I'm glad you're not doing Miles. I like Miles, and in a Miles/Gwen story, sure, but just doesn't feel right in this particular fic. I also like the medical nanites, that's super cool and it's one thing I love, Peter Parker still trying to help people even when he has no powers. My only concern was the whole thing about making a private spider army to help the police. I really hate to bring politics into a smut fic but I still feel like saying my opinion. I'm totally against militarizing the police, so seeing that in my porn fic is super weird. I like the idea of the Spider people showing up, Miles and Cindy Moon, are easy candidates, but seeing them as elite SWAT enforcers? Did i miss something or was this always the plan?
