PSM "Endpage" cartoon from 2005 re: Playstations in the far-future year 2026!
🕑 Added 2023-07-10 13:00:08 +0000 UTCFrom the bygone year 2005, here's another "Endpage" cartoon I wrote and drew for the sadly defunct videogame magazine PSM, this time whimsically predicting the state of Sony Playstation technology in the distant, far-future, nigh-science-fictional year of 2026:

Yes, dear Patrons, that's Emp and a partially visible Thugboy in the background of panel 6. Golly!
And here's the rough for that cartoon:

Will these advances come to pass within the next three years, folks? (Ehh, these wacky predictions miiiight have wound up a tad off-base.)
Note, however, that the rough posted above was my second draft. Here's my initial concept, similar in overall theme but different in some particulars:

Yyyyyeah, I like the second draft quite a bit more. Not sure if I volunteered the newer take because I was dissatisfied with my first attempt (which is entirely plausible), or if my PSM editor thought the first try was just too weird and off-putting.
NEXT TIME ON THIS HERE PATREON: No idea, TBH, but something should be coming up in the next M/W/F slot. Let's find out together, shall we?

You might not be too far off, though. A lot can happen in 3 years.

The worst part of self-upgrading hardware isn't when it goes fully Rampant, it's when it consumes your retro-gaming gear for spare mass. I will avenge you, my Green Gameboy Color; if it takes until the end of time, XBox Infinity will face justice.

I love the Emp and Thugboy cameo!

The last panel reminds me of the ad HP ran a couple years back for their Omen line of gaming laptops about the "Peak Humanity Procreation Institute" as part of their "Transcend Humanity" campaign, although they were talking old-fashioned selective breeding, not genengineering. The line "I have powerful swim-swims" gets used. https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=941885049672292
