2006 "Endpager" cartoon for PSM re: "Videogame-Frustration Olympic Events"
🕑 Added 2023-06-28 13:00:09 +0000 UTCFrom those halcyon days when I wrote and drew a B&W "Endpage" cartoon feature for the Playstation videogame magazine PSM, here's a still-relevant topic as first addressed in the initial rough I sent to the editor:
Note that panel 2 is, of course, referring to the g-d Eggplant Wizards from the NES game Kid Icarus, who really did piss me off to no end. (Here's another link purporting to explain where the hell the name "Eggplant Wizard" came from.)
And here's the cartoon's final version, as drawn and lettered on linen-finish cardstock:
Panel 4: Personally, I frickin' despised the RC helicopter mission from GTA: San Andreas due to how g-d difficult the wee chopper was to control; by contrast, I quite enjoyed the RC airplane mission, as that puppy was a veritable joy to pilot around the city.
Anyhoo, that's enough retrogaming nostalgia for a bit, don't you think?

And speaking of Empowered vol. 12, June's final post on Friday will prrrrrobably be an update of sorts on the ill-fated volume's latest schedule move (assuming I hear back from Dark Horse this week) that will likely also include the afterword I wrote for the book back in March 2022, a text piece that has become ever more apropos in the many months since. Given the subject matter of the book, that would be apropos, but I checked the cover on Amazon UK and nobody has any goatees, so probably not. I'm just curious what'll happen come July 4th; assuming it gets pushed back, I'll just cancel and await my preorder from the local comic book shop.

I can assure you that ain't possibly happening, unless the UK is getting copies from an alternate universe (as I've noted before).

Speaking of release dates, Amazon UK is still insisting they'll have copies of Volume 12 July 4th somehow. I assume it's a mistake, but I have seen foreign branches ignore delays from the mothership; as a kid, I watched the Ed Edd n Eddy finale movie a year before it aired in the States on some pirate site because it aired early in the Philippines or something. I went and put in an order to see what happens; I'll just cancel it if/when they push their date back.
