DISTRESSED DAMSELS: Brand-new and (very) VINTAGE Rose & Lily sketches!

...which abruptly morphed into yet another Rose & Lily sketch set with commentary annotations, as a frustrated (and notably curvier) Lily throws shade at the "OG K*i & Y**i":
Note that the vaguely sketched "Grabgrass(TM)" is a concept borrowed from DeviantART's We-R-Nomad; only fair, I suppose, as he borrowed the "tapedrone" concept from me. (Not that I was doing much of anything with the idea, regardless.)
Next, we jump waaaaay back in time to somewhere in the 1991-93 timeframe for a rough sketch intended to set up a never-completed commission of the Dirty Pair: A Plague of Angels StealthBot distressing Vintage iterations of poor Kei and Yu-- nay, Rose and Lily:

Note that I did, in fact, eventually do a finished 1999 con sketch along those lines:
...but that mecha's bandanna indicates that we're seeing "M-97" from the first Dirty Pair: Biohazards miniseries, not the StealthBot from Plague. Note that Lily's over-the-shoulder pose was derived from a panel in the well-known-in-DiD-circles Spider-Woman #5 from the late 70s; not sure if I did so out of sheer laziness, or if the commissioner specifically requested that pose.
Anyhoo, a few years ago I revisited this "maidens and mecha" (or "damsels & droid"?) scenario with a once again notably curvier Rose & Lily, but wearing the sadly overlooked Yoshikazu Yasuhiko OG "chrome hot pants" DP costumes; I'll scan and post those sketch sets sometime in June, looks like.

Wow, well if he's low on older unposted DiD story material, and he's not drawing any new stuff in that vein, (Which seems very odd, as I'm fairly confident that's what brings most subscribers here) then I may not be a subscriber much longer. I really don't care anything about non-DiD art. At least in the context of paying for it. Lol.

Wellp, that's essentially Emp's current physique and hair length, and I didn't fill in the blacks in Lily's hair, so that perception is entirely warranted!

Hang on, I worked for some shonky outfit creating viral memes on behalf of extremely shadowy bosses right up until the department I worked for was hastily shut down and half the executive team mysterously got unpersoned, one of my old coworkers was involved in some top secret AI shit (and also tried to open a burrito joint or something?), and I have an old family friend who's former top brass at a 3 letter agency/a soccer mom/I think does some yoga/involved significantly in local politics including school stuff, plus I used to order Uber Eats almost daily. Why haven't I gotten the chance to bedamsel Rose yet? Is there some sort of waiting list?

Am I the only one who imagines while Lily is beset with trouble during office-related investigations it's the "gig economy" undercover missions that are both Rose's specialty and especially problematic? Kidnapped while delivering a sandwich to some hacker space creating viral memes. Held hostage while Uber-ing the mad bomber with plans to open up a blackhole in the middle of a city. Abducted while infiltrating a yoga studio that caters who retired assassins turned soccer moms using power over a local school board as part of their scheme to train child solders. Perhaps I'm being too zeitgeist-y but I picture their strengths pairing well in the age of the hybrid office.

Thought it said "Grabass™" in the illustration and instantly was reminded of Corey Emerson's line to Forrester in Plague of Angels when she was questioning why she got the interview gig and not the guys in the office... Good to see that era's K&Y plus smileybot designs again!
