VINTAGE CON SKETCHES: EMPOWERED illos circa 2012, pt.3
🕑 Added 2021-07-02 13:15:00 +0000 UTC2012 was, for the most part, the last year I was still doing these drawn-at-home commissions, so enjoy a few more weeks of high-quality pieces before the supply runs out, folks!
This would be the first time I'd drawn Darth Vader's outfit since, jeez, Joe Wight and I did the covers for Dark Horse's translations of the Star Wars manga circa '98 or so.
Surprisingly apropos, as DP-style SF costumes miiiiight just be very relevant indeed for an upcoming scene in Empowered vol.12.
Interesting to see that Emp wouldn't start her gradual shift to less "big-headed" figure proportions until I was working on Empowered vol.8 in 2013; in fact, as recently noted at length in a commentary for the webcomic serialization, a single, seemingly random panel from that book kicked off my ongoing attempt to render her physique as softer and heavier.
